Default Q's: Custom Exhaust

I am thinking of getting this muffler.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...category=33636

A magnaflow that i found on ebay. Would it be possible to get it piped so it comes out of the exahust hole on teh rear bumper straight and not angled? But at the same time not have a piping drop low to the ground?

Also, is 2.25 piping a good size to get from the cat-back?

And anyone have experience with the sounds of this muffler?

IIRC, the tC runs 2.25 from the factory. As for that muffler, thats up to you.

Would a 2.5 piping be less restrictive? I am just tryin to repipe it without the resonator to make it less restrictiv.e

If I ReCall. 2.5 might be a little to free flowing. If you where to go with a 2.5, just hit up Stylis for his exhaust.

I stopped by a muffler place here in Miami and they quoted me $260 for a custom exhaust with a magnaflow muffler "not angled", but straight. They put my car up and we all got a chance to look under it. The mechanic reported that it has two catalytics. For the $260 they will remove the cat in the middle and replace it with a pipe of the same diameter and the magnaflow muffler.

I did not think a shop was able by law to remove a cat from a car, that is still going to be driven on the street :?:

Probably the same thing as why shops tint windows below the legal limit... for the $. Also they usually let the buyer know that it is illegal and that they won't be held liable for it should they get pulled over.

Yeah i was gonna use that muffer first for the tC but than relized I had to design it a different way for space. Here is the finished product.

depending on the length, it might fit..i got my tanabe supermedallion racing spec muffler to fit almost straight...it actually has a slight angle. they had to cut off most of the inlet of the muffler to get it to fit and dremel a little bit off my rear bumper off but it looks good for the most part..im happy with how it came out

By the picture , it looks like any type of striaght Barrel muffler might hit the rear right control arm. Are there any other muffler's out there that resemble that one used in the picture above? I am just looking for something really big/shiney so that it is noticable that i have an aftermarket exhaust.

Just the sound should be notice enough. If not look for things like free flow mufflers. It would angle out the back a little, but that seems to be the look these days. I know www.supertrapp.com has a cool muffler system that would be nice to try, they just cost a good amount of money for a muffler.

I personally hate catback exhaust...but this isn't my car, so don't take my opinion too seriously...

But, 2 1/4 is about right for a stock 4 cyl engine...l have 2 1/4 on my v-6, and it's restrictive...

my friend said that going from 2 3/4" to the muffler, and 2 1/4" from the muffler to the exhaust tip is a good way to go...

but I'm not an exhaust expert...far from it...

But, your car...do what you'd like...

BUT POST PICS!!

I like pics...mwahaha

My only concern is when buying a barrel type muffler is if the muffler cannot fit into the space provided. I am lookin also at the Greddy Evo style muffler which is pretty big and bulky. Can anyone out there safely say that any type of muffler will fit without hitting the wheel, or control arm of hte rear right ? Thanks
