Question about Cold Starts for the tC
Ok,hello SL
i have a 2006 scion tc and o noticed on cold starts rather it been in the morning or in the afternoon cold or warm out....when i first start the car the rpm jumps to about 2000 rpms for like a second or two then drops down to 1500 for a few more secs then finally below1000 rpms...
is this normal, cause my buddy's 2008 tc his car goes up to 1500 at the most 1600 rpms then drops from there....he mentioned to put the key on the on postion for like 2-3 secs then start it,is that true,i search the forum for similar answers and dint find anything i was looking for.....
so i want to know is going to 2000 rpms normal should i wait a few secs on the on position before starting the car.....i guess im not use to it

I don't know about anyone else but with my 08, i have an auto and if i start it up in the cold and start driving the car doesn't want to go into 4th. It will stay steady at around 4500 rpm then for a little while it will finally go into 4th.

op your car is fine, i just started mine up today and it went up 2000 for a few secs then dropped to 1500 and then slowly started dropping as it warmed up. you have no problem, it is just part of the warm up cycle.

A remote start is possible on a manual trans and it isn't more expensive than an auto. However, it's very complicated to put in a neutral interlock so you better make damn sure you leave it in neutral.
