I own a AT BSP tc and many have told me that its bad to put your gear to neutral from drive when you stop. Well this is what i do, i press on the brake, then when i stop i put the stick to neutral, then when it turns green, i just move the stick back to drive without pressing the brakes. the car moves and all, but is that a bad thing, what im doing? Also i have a lil racing blood in me. So could i put my gear to 1, then shift to 2 then 3 and so on when im racing without having to press my brakes?
when you put the car in neutral and cruise to a stop, you are wasting more gas opposed to leaving the car in gear. the reason being that the engine uses gas to keep the engine from stalling. while the car's in gear... the wheels keep the engine moving and basically does not use any gas to keep the engine running. this applies to both manual AND automatic cars.
You dont have to do all that on an auto. Just listen to the sound of the engine. If the engine sounds it' struggling, let go of the gas abit then punch it, not floor it (remember you have VVT-i, learn to use it properly). Yeah, like everyone have said, stop doing the neutral thing. No advantage other than making the car move back and forth and people may think its a manual tranny. Let the car change the gears for you.
As long as you are sitting still (not rolling backwards) and do not have your foot on the gas, going from neutral to drive with your foot off of the brake shouldn't hurt a thing. If you are reving the car up and then dropping it into drive that will tear up your tranny eventually. If you want to smoke your tires and take off faster you should power brake instead. Hold your lelft foot on the brake (leave the car in D) and then bring the rpms up and let off the brake. Doing these over and over again isn't wonderful for your car but it's better than neutral drop starts. If you really want to stop light race get a manual for your next car.

Doing this all the time could wear out your engine/trans mounts.. plus it's putting torque on the tranmission.. you can do what you want.. but down the road you'll see some vibration of worn mounts.. you're also putting stress on the driveshafts and differential but NOT applying the brakes and shifting into D.. keep this up and it's not going to be pretty.. If you're doing this to show off.. Ultimately your car will pay the price and in my opinion that's not cool..
shifting from L (or 1st) to 2, to 3 and then to D shouldn't really hurt the transmission BUT, again.. more wear and tear on the transmission as the computer tries to keep up with you.. If you wanted to shift manually, no offense, but maybe you should've gotten a manual..
the other thing about downshifting from D to 3, to 2.. I have had to do it already.. since the brakes weren't broken in and the car wasn't stopping.. without risking glazing new brake rotors.. I chose to downshift.. as long as the rpm's aren't sky high.. downshifting is okay.. your owners manual talks about this..
ultimately it sounds as if you wanted a manual and you're trying to show off that you can act like a manual.. maybe you should've gotten that instead of an auto.. because they are meant to be driven differently..
[quote="woodstock"]racing blood? shoulda gotten the manual

Word.
Sorry dude, regular automatics are not designed for that kind of use. You're asking for trouble if you do that frequently. I wouldn't bother trying to drive it like it's a tiptronic or something. That's what ricers in Civics do, drive around with their shifter in 2 or 3 on an automatic to make the car seem fast LOL.
I'd say just drive normally. I'm sure the tC's automatic has grade logic and adaptive shifting, so it will "learn" your style of driving and know to shift later if you drive aggressively (racing blood)
I think that's your best bet, short of getting a 5 speed tC instead.
