question about the tc's resale value....
i decided i want to try to sell my tc and buy a cheaper car then save up for a motorcycle. i checked kelley blue book and it says private party price should be 16,3xx, and trade in should be 14,5xx. now i looked on autotrader.com and they are selling used tc's for crazy high prices.
at the bottom of the page it shows this
$99,999 Highest price
$3,990 Lowest price
$17,703 Average price
now i realize the one going for 99,999(which must be fake) is going to mess up the average a bit, but there are non RS3 tc's going for over $21,000 on there.
it makes me wonder how much i can really get for mine.

well i'm not in a huge huge rush but i want something with a smaller payment and lower insurance so i can save money for a bike. i had a bike last year and sold it to get the tc and i miss it.
to me even the $16,999 i'm asking seems a bit high honestly cause you can buy a new one for the same price before tax title and tags. i have some stuff done to my car but that usually doesn't make the value go up, correct?

that's because cars that are in demand, people are willing to pay more not to wait. supply/demand equation here.
depends on what you've done, research has shown that a cold air intake might seem like good investment to you, but it can actually reduce the $$$ you get. Seriously. Like a pimped out tC wouldn't be taken seriously by a buyer, who knows what the person did to it. See the buyer's thinking?

Im asking 19,000 OBO on my RS2.0
The only hits ive gotten have been about parting out my door sills for $20 bucks......
And im trying to do the same thing you are. I own a bike and i want to pick up something a lil nicer. Not to mention im moving to Waikiki, so i need the 366+insurance i spend a month on my tC to assist me with my rent.... just gotta keep trying.
Im at a disadvantage though, due to im on oahu, so i have whose on this island and thats about it...

Just because other people are listing their cars at that price doesn't mean they will sell at that price. Usually KBB's price is too high, you should try www.edmunds.com to find a more appropriate pricing guidline.....ESPECIALLY on trade in value
^^ because some people do no research what so ever when they by a car, and they think just because they are buying used they are getting a better deal and saving money then buying a new vehical!
Well also, there are only 50,000 tCs made each year. Only 20% of those are manuals. Not to mention pure price means there's really no fluctuation in how much people paid for a base tC. And hell...it's a Toyota!
Take into account that its almost september, do you really want to switch to a "cheaper" car right before winter? I'd say wait for spring, because what if a dealer or private seller screws you and you get a car with a hidden problem and are out of a ride for the winter?
