umm.......

yeah.......

hold on ill get it.......

OH YEAH!!!!!!! not have to worry about shifting. thats about it.

really its personal pref. what you need to ask yourself is this:

can you drive a manual currently? are you going to be driving in traffic a lot? are you willing to learn on your new car and replace the clutch much earlirer then normal?

ya kinda got that but the real question was race wise and performance because I'm thinking about just one day adding a kit or doing something but was just wondering if its worth it on a auto

im 17 also and i chose to get an auto because its a lot easier for me and i am too lazy to shift. i have driven many sticks before and they are fun, but i cant imagine myself driving one everyday for 5+ years. also where i live theres a lot of traffic and congestion on the roads, so i wouldnt be able to enjoy the MT much and it would be a hassle to drive through traffic everyday. just think about all those factors and make the right choice.

and if ur gonna get a stick just cause people say "real men drive sticks" then you are an idiot.

plus its not like the tC is a performance car. if i was getting a g35 coupe or like nissan 300z then i would def. get a stick!!

just one major con for the auto is that its a bit slower - but it does get better gas miliage!!

you gain weight with auto, i'm always eating when driving O_O... then again, I was a bit underweight last time i went for a checkup so that's a good thing.

thats usually the case, but with our tC, the auto gets like 1 more mpg than than the manual. not much, but its still better.

5 speed in traffic sucks but then again to me 5 speed has that more "sporty" feel. either way the car is free so it's all g. it's all personal pref.

dispite traffic and what not, stick is easy to learn, and it becomes second nature to you when you drive. Auto is auto, dont shift but ur not as fast and auto trannys are usually weaker than manuals

WOOOOOOOOoo stick rules

but in all seriousness like stated previously its all about preference, I drove a automatic cavalier before and a 3 spd automatic camaro, I kinda got really bored not being able to shift so i figured what the hell lets try a manual and i ordered my 06 nb tc 5 spd and I sorta just jumped in the car and drove it and love it now, still working on a few little things that i cant get perfect but other than that 5 spd owns! (sry bout going off topic a little bit i just woke up) um but yea its all about preference

From what I've heard, the automatic revs at lower levels at highway speeds.

So is you do a lot of 55+ mph driving I would pick the auto. Also for rush hour traffic, you don't have to shift every couple of seconds if your in heavy traffic.

ADVANTAGE OF AUTO:

drive with one hand, have girl in other hand.
smoke without having to drive with your knees.
talk on cell phone without having to use your knees.
smoke and chat on cell phone and drive with your knees.
better gas mileage
put right hand on clutch and left hand one wheel (instant manual driving)
traffic is frustrating as it is without having to clutch every 2 seconds.

Spend some quality time in rush hour traffic and you will understand the benefits of an automatic. I drove a stick for 15 years and switched to auto when I got my XB.

If you are new to stick you might want to seriously consider an automatic. Yeah they aren't as peppy as sticks but who cares?

i drive an auto, and i can say i dont regret it.

given, yes the manuals are faster, as they have 5 shorter ratio gears. that means better acceleration, worse cruising ability in the sense that your rpms will indeed be higher.

driving in traffic daily, i can really appreciate the auto. but then again, people do say manual becomes a second nature.

one more point to mention. the clutch can handle more power than the automatic gearbox. so if you plan to turbo, you'd have a wee bit better luck and save some money with a manual. but of course it depends how much boost you run. not to imply you cant turbo an auto, it just requires a conversion to high-performance, which costs some extra money.

so, coming to everyone else's conclusion: its personal preference.

i'm also 17, and wouldn't have went any other way than get the auto. My girl wouldn't have been very happy if i didn't hold her hand while i drove anymore. i rather just cruise and chill listening to music than feel like i have to race and shift all the time.

yeah, the biggest thing will be your convenience and whether or not you're going to be driving in a lot of traffic. And if you are, then whether pushing through the gears will get on your nerves.
Also one less mod you can do, short throw shifter. And ooh, you'll get a 1mm thicker stock sway bar, i think.

it really is a matter of preference. i like auto because when i'm cruisin' with my girl i lke to hold her hand and put my arm around her when i drive. it's a pain in the butt to do with stick. traffic suck with a stick especially if you live around steep hills. but with stick you can race better even though non of these cars (civics, preludes, tc) are really race cars. so whatever.
