Default Question for B&M and TRD short shifter owners.

TC owners who have a TRD short shifter:
Is the TC TRD shifter notchier than stock? By notchier, i mean requiring more force to put into gear.
Is the white plastic shifter cage/assembly the same as the stock unit?

I just installed the B&M and its notchier than I'd like it to be. Having a cable shift transmission, I expect any short shifter to be notchier, but I was wondering if the TRD is different since you replace the entire assembly.

TC owners with the B&M shifter:
Did you use the 4 spacers that came with the kit?
Are they strictly for shift **** height or do you think they affect shifting engagement/smoothness? I ask because the spacers bend/elevate the 2 cable linkages upward, and I wonder if that affects engagement.

I used them, but now the shifter shakes at higher speeds/gear. I suspect its because the mounts are solid and transmit any vibration from the chassis/engine/trans to the shifter lever; as opposed to the stock rubber mounts which may absorb vibrations.

I dont care to hear about other short shifters or someone's theory about short shifters/transmissions, so please save that stuff for another thread.

I searched, but found reviews for the xa/xb TRD unit, or TC install how-to's.

Thank you.

I have the B&M installed but didn't use the spacers. I wanted the .5" - .75" drop in **** height which I feel is perfect for me.

As for the notchiness, I felt the same way as you at first, but after driving with it for a couple weeks now, I think it feels awesome. I might have just gotten used to it, but I think it actually feels smoother now. Shifts just seem to "click" into gear and feel very solid.

Drive with it for a few weeks and I think you'll love it.

I used the spacers and noticed feeling some road vibration, but for the feeling of the positive engagement and short throw I don't mind.

I originally installed the sapcers, and recently removed them. I like the lower **** height and didnt notice a significant increase in vibration. In fact didnt notice any real difference other than the lower **** height which I actually prefer.

I kept the spacers and haven't noticed any road vibration... It's probably there, but never picked it up. I liked the B&M price way more than the TRD's, that's why I went in that direction.
