Default Question Regarding Trade in of 2006 tC

Ok, so I hope there are some people who work at scion dealerships who can help me out here. I bought my 2006 tC in March. I love this car, but I'm kicking myself in the behind for getting an automatic ( I was just learning to drive stick at the time so I was more comfortable with the auto) anyway, I want to trade my auto tC in for a manual. How does this work? I put $1500 down for this car, it has 2006 miles on it (drove it off the lot with 4) and it is still stock from the dealer. Can I trade it in without a down payment? Any answers will be much appreciated. Thanks ahead of time for your replies!!

I would say go back to your dealer and explain it. if you're lucky, you could trade straight up for a manual... they're about $800 cheaper off the lot... and yours couldn't have depreciated too much.

Otherwise, you might end up paying a LITTLE more.

Your best bet is to find someone in your opposite condition. Otherwise, it will cost you at least 2g's to do the trade, most likely 3.

But then again, you live in Cali, aren't you always in bumper to bumper traffic? Keep the auto :D

ouch, that hurts my pocket book. I do live in Cali, but the area I live in, I don't get stuck in bumper to bumper traffic---that's mostly LA, OC...I don't live there. Manual is more fun to drive

Ok so...maybe I didn't make my question clear enough...I'm sure in the end I might be paying more if I do the trade, but I'm wondering if I have to give more money up front when I do the trade?...Please help, this is really bugging me.

do you have a title or payment?

If you have a payment did you put cash down?, if so how much?

How long did you finance, and what's your rate?

If you put 1500 or 2k down, you most likely wouldn't have to put any cash out if your credit is good.

I'm still paying it...I just got it in March.

I put $1500 down when I got the car.

Financed for 72 mos. @ 7.45 APR

You might be alright. If your payoff is < 17k, you shouldn't have to come out with any cash. Otherwise, it might be tough to trade.

when my dad went to our dealer and asked the same question.. he said they would find out the price of the car(the one we owned) and they would order another scion tc manual (of course with a fee that goes toward the car $300) After all taxes are done to the new tc they figure out who owes who money. if our auto ended up being just a bit more in trade in value.. theyd give us the money and wed pay them if the new tc ended up being more. but thats from what my dad told me. i wasnt with him when he went to our dealership. i was at school get my education on.

It'll probably cost you a few thousand to switch to a manual tC, unless your dealership is really cool and they work something about with you.

It's worth the money in my opinion.. I test drove a tC that was automatic before I bought mine, I was extremely disappointed with the power. Finally when they got my 5speed in, I drove it and was shocked on how much of a difference it made. The car felt much faster.

it all depends on your dealership i think. heard some ppl got a great deal when going back to their dealership to trade for the same car, but different trans.

hopefully your sales ppl are cool and let you get by with minimum loss. lol, i have an auto, so i feel your pain. the stick tC didn't impress me at the time (neither did the auto), but i didn't realize how much speed i was loosing with the auto. and at the time of purchase i was thinking more for y parents being able to drive it, which is dumb b/c they never drive it...

i'll be switching to manual next year... Si that is.

If I was you I would be very careful make you you read everything so the dealer doesnt try to pull one over on you. I am in the same boat looking to trade-in or sell my Taco to get a TC.
