Default question for those with lowered/dropped tCs

Hi, I just recently purchased my tC and i love it...

now that i've driven it for a while my thoughts have turned to making some changes to it. first and foremost is the suspension, but the crappy quality of the roads i frequently drive make me a little hesitant.

i was wondering if anyone had any problems caused by the road since they lowered their tC or gotten the strut bars. thanks! if you live in an area with crappy roads, then your response is even better. thanks.

how much do the trd springs lower it and what are the spring rates on them? are they progressive or linear?

I have the TRD springs on mine and its only slightly stiffer than stock. It improves cornering quite a bit though. Rough roads should pose much of a problem.

live in maryland with bad roads, potholes, etc.

i have H&R springs, soon to be switching to Goldline, also have TRD shocks, front strut and rear sway bar....car handles like money...

i don't have problems suspension wise, just that im lower and in some spots i try to avoid to scrape inclines and wutnot...just go around the potholes, should be ok...

I have the complete TRD suspension set up. Shocks, swaybar, and springs... Handles much better than stock without sacrificing ride quality all that much.

I used to live in MD. trust me, the roads are good. come live in pittsburgh for a week or two and you'll be thanking MD for keeping the roads in as good shape as they are in.

read my awesome review in tread and butter forum

you will want to get more cushion on those tires before modding suspension if u live around potholes and blah blah blah

here's a question too.. i know nothing about suspension so im trying to learn... with springs.. you need shocks frequently? cause they get worn out faster? and then you also need to adjust your camber so they don't wear out the tires? is that the right assumption

cause if it is.. wouldn't it be smarter to wait for coilovers that handle better?

Don't you just love San Antonio roads? lol I'm thinking about getting the springs and a rear strut bar...I love corners.

I'm kinda undecided between the TRD springs and the Sprint Springs. Does anyone have comparison pictures? Thanx!

From what I understand, aftermarket suspension can reduce the life of your shocks. Most people I've spoken with recommend getting springs and shocks together in a set, like those offered by tein or skunk2. That way, the shocks are calibrated specifically for those springs and you won't have to constantly replace your shocks. Unfortunately, I don't know anything about the camber. Also from what I've heard, coilovers definitely provide the best handling, but are extremely expensive and usually reserved for the hardest of the hardcore (like show cars or dragsters). I don't think their worth the heavy price tag. A quality spring and shock set is by far more affordable and still provide excellent handling in my opinion.

im prety sure your referring to the rear sway bar, not rear strut bar...i havent heard of a rear strut bar for our car yet, unless im mistaken.

yeah, she probably meant sway. easily confused... anyway, i'm thinking about getting the front strut bar, rear sway bar, and the TRD strut, springs, shock package. maybe one at a time so i can truly appreciate the difference. it'll be a while though....
