I myself have a 5 speed tc and i get asked alot if its my daily driver,i answer yes, and i get answered back isnt driving stick everyday time consuming and tiring........i say ill be honest sometimes it is and sometimes its not,and sometimes i wish i had and auto but for the most part i cant see my self driving a auto just not the same......been driving stick for yrs,

+1 i've seen a few before.
OP did you search before you posted ?

i have driven a stick for most of my life, althought we do have auto's in the household i prefer to drive my car. It does not bother at all, even in NYC traffic i'm like a robot shifting without even thinking about it.
Auto's in my opinion are good in luxury car's thats you just want to drive, relax and enjoy the ride...

I always find myself going for the clutch pedal when I have to drive somebody elses car. Driving stick never gets tiring for me even in traffic I'm used to it. Way more fun to drive than sitting in an auto.

How would driving a standard be time consuming? I think it's the exact opposite.

Sometimes when i go to park an auto my foot instinctively goes for the clutch and slams the brake so everyone flies through the windshield.

I've only ever had manuals and I would never have it any other way. I once drove a Cadillac XLR and all I could think to myself while driving was "my god they've spoiled a perfectly good car with an auto."

i have no regrets driving stick.
you don't really even think about unless you're stuck in traffic for over an hour or something.
but then again your calves get used to it :p
nothing like driving stick, you're constantly in control~
don't get me wrong though, auto is always nice and relaxing, but def. not my preference.

For the 7 years that I have had my license, I have ONLY owned stickshift cars. I've never really thought about it being a PITA. You pretty much get used to it after you've been driving it for so many years, it just all comes natural to you. I've driven auto cars here and there, they are boring. I also constantly find myself looking for the clutch when I'm in an auto, lol.

yes there are threads about this like "do you prefer stick or auto and is it your DD",so please search next time, but any how i have a 06 tc stick daily driver and wouldnt have it any other way,but i do sometimes drive my girls jeep from time to time if going to the beach or something as more storage space but for the most part stick all the way it sucks when you get on the free way and you cant power shift or shift the gears,

My first car and current car is a standard tC 08. About a year after learning how to drive it, I do not even notice i'm shifting through gears or engaging/disengaging clutch. It is a second nature to me. Unless if i'm driving aggressive or on canyons. Or giving a ride to a lady I really like. lol.

Stick shifts keep people more focused on driving rather than distractions like cell phones, texting, and conversation inside the car. It also lets you have immediate control in case of hydroplaning or severe understeer. If anyone can find an auto/manual accident percentage study, that would prove the point.

That's the reason my parents made me get a stick for my first car (although I didn't argue )

oh man...driving auto is only nice on luxury vehicles or vehicles with a good gear box. Driving auto on a tC blows. My girl has one and everyday, I think to myself...what a shame. The best auto I have driven is probably the Lexus GS or BMW 3 series, smooth like silk. However, I probably would never buy an auto, even if autos become faster in the near future. An auto tranny just ruins the experience. Call me old school but I like a proper transmission.

yea its sucks. If my girl is gonna keep her tC, I am highly thinking of swap her tranny. Or even better, I wonder if the warranty will cover a swap. Manual transmissions are cheaper.

I know many others will not agree with me but I think driving standard is a luxury. Why? Because I have the freedom to shift whenever I want to.

Freedom is my biggest luxury.
