QUICK TRD SHIFT LIGHT REVIEW....
Bought this from a local brand new for $100 out the door.
Do I feel it is worth $100? Yes I do.
Do I feel it is worth the $270 dealers are charging? HECK NO!
Pro's....
Easy to install.
Really helps with 1st and 2nd gear shifts because with the sc 1st gear revs so fast it outruns the tach very badly and you find yourself bouncing off the redline before you know what has happened.
Looks good and gets allot of questions and comments.
Great tool for situations you cannot look at the dash. I can see the led's light and flash out of the corner of my eye without ever looking at the gauge cluster.
Lights are not on under normal driving conditions. Setup the way I wanted it with full flash at 6000rpm even the first led does not light up until 4500rpm.
Cons...
Brain box is stupid large and was a pain to hide.
TRD used half arsed t-taps aka scotch locks to tap into the oem wires.
LED lights are blinding at most any angle when your headlights are off "has a dimmer function.
Has a really dorky little light show it does when you turn the key and start the car. Ricey and pointless.
Air fuel ratio meter is pointless and tells you nothing.
I fixed the led blinding problem by hooking up the tail light wire "which is the units dimmer wire" to the ignition lead so it is in dim mode all the time" Now it is perfect!
Another thing to note, I did NOT have to modify the gauge cluster in any way shape or form to put it in this location. The wire is skinny and fit perfect with no bowing between the lense and the outer gauge bezel.
The tc has poor mounting conditions for this particular item. I chose to mount it were it is at so that I can see it well out of the corner of my eye. I had to use a dremel to cut the back portion of the 10/100 cable they use to connect it to the brain box in order for it to fit nice and neat were it is at. If you do not modify the nic cable, it cannot be mounting in this location.
The only issue with this mounting location is that it covers your tire pressure / check engine light up. On occasion I just look over the gauge to make sure nothing is on.

As for the mounting question, I took off the mounting braket, used the adhesive promoter provided with it on the aluminum housing and on the gauge bezel and then stuck it down with the VBH 3M tape provided "same stuff they use to mount body panels"

Very cool. Thanks for the write up! I've been debating about getting one of these for the xB for a while now. Maybe we can get this moved to ICE or something so more can see it.

Here is the vid of what it looks like. In person led's even though on dim mode are much much brighter. And sorry guys, did not take the vid while driving, not possible by myself with a 5 speed and the sc haha.

wow 6 leds.. why so many? is it like a spectum color scheme like till u get to red line or something? i have a sequential shift light as well but its not trd but it does come with 4 leds and its small and only cost me $40

can you give a color and location of the taillights wire? i still can't get it, and i installed my alarm a couple of months ago.
