raced in the tc tonight and got some questions
so after work i meet up w/ my 2 cousions n bro. my cousion who has a 94 accord lx auto w/ intake just wouldnt stop talkin ____ bout the tc. so i said wtf ill show him up. we then go at it. and we line up and i rev to about 2500 and when we take off my wheels wouldnt stop spinning. it went throught all of first spinnin, i thought that they would catch traction but it didnt. so i basically hit the rev limiter in 1st. will this mess up my car? i did smoke his ___. so it was coo.

did you drop the clutch at that rpm or just let it out quicker than normal?
i never like to spin my tires at all, i'm too worried about messing up a cvt joint
i have trouble sometimes, i'll rev it to about 2500 and drop the clutch, the tires will spin for about 3/4 of second, then the engine will die for a split second and then it will slowly take off.
what am i doing wrong?

2.5rpm start = catch traction at 6rpm. tiny bit before you shift so you might not even notice it.
rev limiter is to prevent damage so i say ur car is fine.
stock tires suck :D

When your clutch slowy engages there is no damage. If your car is winded high and all the sudden engages and doesn't spin thats when you break your car. (correct me if im wrong)
As far as spinning tires, it should just burn off the wheels and you can feel better when you have to upgrade to better wheels sooner and becuase you need new wheels.

Wai what is the difference between dropping the clutch and slowly releasing it?
which way is the better and correct way?
Like i want to go drag and stuff but i dont know how to launch correctly.
Also when i am coming from a stop to first i slowly release my clutch, is this called riding the clutch? Or is it normal, cause i cant smootly get into first cause its a little jerky so i slowly release the clutch.
thanks~hope that made sense

I always wondered the same thing. dropping the clutch, when you have it reved high, can kill a CV joint, wear your tires, and maybe mess up the tranny. but slowly letting the clutch out as you're reving is putting wear on the clutch.
Toyota clutches do hold up. Had 120k on my first clutch (Corolla). about 60k on my 2nd, and I did ride that car hard the 5 years I'VE driven it.
