If you are looking at those 2, you have some money. I'd recommend the BEL product. Although escort is a VERY close second. Buy whichever you can get a better price on and like the look of better.

Quite honestly though, there may be things that you like better about one than another. One may detect better, the other may be louder. These aren't things that you'll know until you buy it. Get whichever is cheaper.

Escort and Beltronics are the SAME company. Beltronics bought out Escort from Cincinnatti Microwave about 10 years ago.

I personally like Bel's products, but Escort is just as good, it depends on what features you like. Both are excellent products.

neither works in my area.all the cops use laser or pop.

I used an Escort and it saved me once out of 5 times. 4 tickets = almost $700 + escort $300

Have used the Valentine 1 for over 10 years. It's the finest unit on the market. It is built very well and will pay for its more expensive price many times over.

yeah laser, the only thing you could hope and pray for is that they laser cars in front of you and the detector gets a whiff of it before they hit you!

but having a good detector can make the difference even with laser.

i was also in the same situation recently about which Radar Detector to go with for my 07 FM TC, but thanks to some good comments posted i went with the Beltronics RX65 Pro Bel, and its a fine piece of technology. I bought it on ebay from an authorized dealer, you will find way cheaper prices from others, but they state in fine print that in order to give you that price they have to remove the seial numbers, and for warrantee..its not from bell, its from them, makes you kind of think ????. here is the listing for the one i bought, but they also carry many more brands. Mine was a little expensive, but i dont mind spending it for the great features it has check it out:

I have owned a V1 for about 7 years the really good thing about owning a v1 is, if they have an update you can send your radar detector for an upgrade for a small price. And it is the BEST RADAR DETECTOR out there periot.

I have the Bel v940 which is great for the price. I would stay away from Cobra though. Check out radardetector.net before you buy.
