Re-Painting Engine Cover
So I want to re-do my engine cover a different colour.
I already painted it before and I didn't sand it or anything.
Just masked it off and threw on straight gold paint and then
some clear coat. Now I want to change the colour of it
Would I have to sand it or do anything else now?

to answer your question, no you dont HAVE to, however the purpoose of sanding is to get rid of any bumps and to roughen up the surface so the paint sticks better, if you have clear coat on there from a previous paint job, i would definately suggest sanding, first with a coarse grit, then a fine grit, you dont need to remove all the paint down to the stock finish, but try to at least get rid of the clearcoat layer and roughen up the paint from before. after that make sure you wash the peice and make sure its completely dry before you paint, and yeh, goodluck

The heat will not bother the paint on the valve cover.

Yeah I know, but there wasnt enough room to make them flow front to back. I tried but it didnt look too good.
I really would have liked them to come from the oil cap out but I couldnt make it look right.
This way it looks like its coming from the intake...sorta
