Default Real short shifter kit: Do they exist?

Many of these so call "short shift" kits that are being sold for the tC lack one imprtant thing (as far as I can tell): All they do is shorten the stick, not the throw. WTF? I don't give a rats nut about the stick height, I want the throw reduced!

Any products that reduce the throw out there?

Um... all of the ones I've seen DO shorten the throw.

TRD: 20% - same height
TWM Stage 1: ~30%? - .5" drop?
TWM Stage 2: ~35% - 2" drop
CC: ~30% - 1.5" drop
B&M: ~30% - .5" drop?

I don't know if those are exact... just pulled what I think they are from memory... but it's close I think.

Well only the TRD shortens the throw. THe rest shorten the throw by shortening the height. So the TRD is the only one out now. To get the same feel of the other shorten stick shifters all you gotta do is grab lower on your stock stick

It also comes with a hefty 200+ dollar price tag FYI

I don't think that the rest of the shifters acheive the throw ONLY by dropping the height...

Especially the TWM stage 1, if any of them. It only drops .5" but still gets about 30% shorter throws. Compared to about 30% from the 1.5" drop of the CC. So it's not just the drop in height... there is some engineering to each of them.

Exactly what I thought.

The TRD is probably what I'll end up going with b/c, as I said in the OP, I don't care about the height I want a true short throw.

stop giving out misinformation.

ALL the short shifts out right now shorten the height AND the throw (cept for TRD.. just throw). NOT JUST THE HEIGHT!

How are you so sure I am giving out bad information? You can look at the shifters compared to the stock shifter, They are exactly the same save for Height. NOW I am sure if you do some math involving the traveling distance from the end of the stock shifter during shifting, compared to lets say the 2" shorter twm stage 2 shifter. I think you'll find about 35% shorter is the travelling difference. I personally haven't done the math. But I am pretty sure the numbers add up.

But can be had for ~$230. Still a bit pricey though... even for a warrantied part.

i have a B&M shifter. Its basically stock height but it shortens the throw too. They did this by moving the pivot ball. I believe all the companys out there do this too.

Thanks reagulator, B&M has a history of making useful, quality products so I was also contemplating that one. I'm still drawn to the TRD apparatus .

If and when I install one I will probably look heavilly at the B&M. They have made well engineered products for MANY years.

If you do a search you will see images. I know TWM and CC both shorten the throw. YOU CAN SEE THE DIFFERENCE with them side by side. They also shorten the height. If you ask people who have them- I have the CC one- they will tell you the throw is shortened...you can feel the difference as well. I know that the B&M doesnt shorten the height, just the throw....

lol.. dont know where you go off saying the others shorten just the height and not throws.. but i can definitely say that my creative compact shortened the height, the stiffness and the throw...
