Default rear view mirror?

has anyone tried to remove it? I want to run a tint strip up there but if there wasn't a mirror in the way it would make it a little bit easier.

Thanks

I have not actually tried this, but I hear of people having them fall off on really hot days... so I'd try pulling on it while using a hot hair dryer or something. $.02

iono if its what your looking for, but if its a vinyl color strip you could run it on the outside of the glass.

If they used the proper adhesive, you wont get it off easilly.

the mirror just snaps onto a base thats glued to the windshield. i know because when i got my windshield replaced the dude just snapped it off and pushed it back onto the base on the new windshield. it took alot of strength to do it tho. as for the tint all the way across i don't think it possible because of the base that the mirror snaps onto. u might be able to cut around it.........

I have an answer for ya...but you need one of those small handheld torches.

I used to run a windshield replacement shop in San Diego...if you want to take off the metal bracket...take a handheld torch and place it against the bracket while taking a pair of pliers and gently wiggle the bracket until it comes loose and falls off. Don't pull too hard on the bracket with the pliers though because you can crack the glass.

If you go to any windshield replacement shop after your done tinting, they should be able to put the bracket back on your windshield for you. They should have the correct adhesive, as the stuff they sell at Autozone (or somewhere similar) doesn't really work.

If you remove it and tint, you will want to remove the tint where the mirror goes anyway, or you will end up having it fall off if you glue it to the tint since it will eventually pull the tint loose. Just remove it from the base and have them cut around it. If they cant do that then find a better tint shop.

I'm sorry what I meant was how to remove the mirror with the base on there I guess. So when I attempt to tint it there won't be a big mirror in the way.

So I can just pull the mirror off and it will pop out of the base then?

Should slide right off its base. Most pull upward and off.
