Default Recording Gas Mileage

Back in March; I decided on recording every fill up and keeping track of mileage.

It's quite interesting how the results came up to be.
-----------
For March, I let the dealer change my oil. I asked the dealer to do Synthetic change.

Lowest MPG was 27 for 280 miles. Highest was 30 for 358 k.
-----------
April, Let my co-worker change my oil. Used Mobil 1 5-20 with Mobil 1 filter.

Lowest was 27 for 311 k. Highest was 33 for 318 k.
-----------
May, I changed my own. Mobil 1 5-20, this time with K&N filter.

Lowest was 30 for 303 k when I had five fill ups with 30 MPG! Highest 35 for 359 k! (I drove very conservative: No lead footing, drove 5 under. Was on vacation; no rush)

Every fill up so far has been in the 30 range.
----------

I haven't change my daily driving habits. Take the same routes. I'm aware my tC is at 85k mark and is "broken in." But, I'm amazed how my mileage is much higher than what Toyota promised on the sticker. My old xA wasn't even getting these numbers!

So anyone getting these results too? Any thoughts?

Interesting... while I would expect mileage to get better at lower driving speeds to some extent, that's still some noteable change in mpg. Were you using synthetic before? If not I wonder if a change to synthetic took the engine a little while to get used to...

Funny you had this post because I actually started my own little experiment the other day to see my MPG. I got 2 gallon of gas yesterday when I was at the end of the gas needle mark. So far I gotten 31miles out of it and there is still about 2/5 left. I'm hopeing at least 15 more miles.

Yeah my MPG sucks. I am very disappointed in my car because of that. Other than that, I love it.

ive been getting a 320 a tank and lovin' it.

i know its hard but if you just keep up with the flow of traffic and not try to get around everyone it helps. and coasting to stops works wonders.

I got around 30MPG on stock tires on my 05, but since switching to Falken Ziex912's (heavier tires) I went down to 26ish mpg.

I made it to 475 miles last tank before chickening out and adding gas. I'm getting 36-38MPG, so with a 14.5 gallon tank, I should be able to get 520+ miles. I just wanna see 500 miles on a tank, so maybe I'll carry around a gallon of gas "just in case".

How do you get that kind of mileage? Are you crusing around with no passenger seat and no interior panels or something?

^^ I know right....i think only way you can possibly ever do that...and i don't even think it's possible is if you get on the highway right away...get up to 55....and keep it on cruise for the whole damn tank.

Not at all. I've just been hypermiling it. (just trying it out for kicks to see how much I can get). I accelerate r-e-a-l-l-y slow...like 0-60 in 40 seconds-kind of slow. Then, I stick it in cruise at 58-62 mph if I'm feeling lazy. If not, I'll use "pulse and glide" to really up my MPGs. Anticpate traffic, anticipate stops, coast in neutral when possible, and upshift at around 2100 RPM. My record so far on my 35 mile commute is 48MPG, but I was drafting a semi the entire way. If I get under 34MPG for a tankful, I'm really disappointed. 34mpgx14.5 gallons = 493 mils. Not so far-fetched now, is it?

the best i ever had was 385 to a tank, i could of gotten 400 or more, buttt i was on the way to some place and i wasnt sure when the next gas station would be near me loll and when i filled up , it stopped at 12.1 or something, so i could of gotten more than 400!! lol
