to add to this, a centrifugal S/C works like a turbo.

All S/C are belt driven, where as turbos are exhaust gas driven...

He probly meant that a centrifugal has an impeller (like a turbo) instead of lobes like a roots (positive displacement) has...good call.

True, but I was just pointing out that there are differences in S/Cs, Hence the "Like" statement.

you should be more specific "it works like" is a very broad statement... like you could say "bicycles work like trains" and of corse it would be true in one manner or another... but if you explain how they work alike it actually makes sense.

Well Mr Specfic.

Instead of compressing air through "Lobes", a Centrifugal S/C compresses air the same way that turbos do, but are belt driven not exhaust gas driven. They can be adjusted by replacing the pulley (the belt drive part) to allow it to spin faster or slower which compresses more or less air (raise or lower boost)

Specfic enough??

It was assumed that people that were asking about a "Blower" knew what I was talking about.

OK??

Dave.

The guy who was asking said he was new to supercharger lingo, HE'S the one that needs the explaination, not me, I just wanted you to be more clear as not to confuse someone who is just getting into that aspect of tuning. I was being "playfully"sarcastic not trying to be mean.

It's a "Roots" type.

Fish were cool. I was being over sarcastic too.
