Default Is the salesman BullS***ing me?

Ok so i put a deposit on a new 09 TC. The TC they got was an auto and had to dealer trade for a 5 speed. The deposit was complete stock tc no extra floor mats or anything. Now i went back to the dealer the other day to pick up the vin for my car and see that floor mats for $171 was added to the TC.

Now when i asked the dealer if he could remove the floor mats when the TC arrived he said that he cant do that he can only sell as is. Is he pulling my leg here? I thought that all TCs were stock from the factory and that we could add and remove and extras we wanted.

But he cant possible tell me that i cant have them remove the floor mats can he?

um, if i remember correctly you and the salesman are going through the addons and prices, THEN when its what you want he makes it happen, THEN you put the deposite down. if its not what you want after you put the money down, say you want the money back and that youll go to a diffrent dealer and get what you want from then. im willing to bet that they will make something work out.

If I am reading this correctly the car they got you wth 5 speed is coming from differant dealership.......I know some dealerships have add on parts that thye have put on......my Yaris came with the rear bumper guard that goes for $60..... when I looked at the sheet sure enough I got charged $60.......when i asked they said it is on every one they sell........sure enough it is........

I would tell them no thanks to the mats though........why pay interest on the cost of them........I bought mine a month later,so no extra car payment money on the loan.

The Scion TC and all Scions for that matter, come shipped out to the dealership without add ons. If the salesman told you when you were putting your deposit down that there would be no additional charge for floor mats then call him out on it. If he refuses to remove the charge or the floormats, i suggest seeing the sales manager to push it further.

Tell em' to take them off or give them for you for free. If that doesn't work tell them you are going to a different dealership. Just my 2 cents.

Actually if the features have already been installed to the car your buying before you were going to get the car, everything is included in the sticker price, so basically your notpaying for the car PLUS the 171$.

Usually dealerships don't carry the very basic models at the dealer with no floor mats and etc installed and they usually don't uninstall a feature thats already been installed.

Does your signed purchase contract have floor mats included? Show your salesperson that you signed a contract saying you want a car WITHOUT floor mats. If he claims he cannot pull the floor mats out, tell him they can dealer trade for another tC that doesn't have them. Once you signed that contract you have a legally binding document that states you get the car you want for the price you signed for.

A good dealership will not throw away a car sale over freaking floor mats. They should just give them to you at no cost or pull them out and wait for another customer to buy a car with floor mats. Good luck!

I know the dealer that I bought my 08 at did exactly what I wanted. I got the tc for 16,900, and they gave me 2500 over blue book for my trade. The sales guy said no way so I walked and the manager came running after me and we made the deal.

So yeah, he's BSing you.

If the floor/cargo mats were added at the port they will be apart of the Window Sticker....which deleting anything from the window sticker is technically illegal....at least in our state.

More and more dealers are adding the mats at the port in order to build more profit for the dealership.

Just ask them if they are apart of the window sticker. If not, then delete them.

Exactly. Dealers make squat selling Scions. They add options you aren't looking for because (1) some people don't want to wait the 2-3 weeks it takes to get a Scion delivered and decide to take the one(s) off the lot and (2) dealers are just trying to fatten their pockets. They make most of their $$$ on the options. Some dealers even include leather seats. (Mo' money, mo' money for the dealers.)
