Default Scion Dealer charging $800 for TRD suspension install

I just called scion and they wanna charge me 300 dollars for installing TRD suspension. This is ridiculous....Guys let me know what prices you got your install for at other scion dealers. I live in Jersey, so anyone from Jersey who recently installed their suspension give me some other dealer locations that I can go to, b/c these prices are retarded!!!. I just don;t wanna Void the Warranty u know?

Is it $300 or $800? What parts of the suspension? Springs, struts, sway bars or all of the above? If it's $300 to install everything, then that's pretty good.

If you want you could learn to do it yourself. It's not like you'd be voiding the warranty for the whole car or anything, just the suspension warranty.

I think what he means is they're charging him $300 for the labor, $500 for the suspension.

$800 to install them, then that's a rip off.

Let's just say that its $75/hour

$800 / $75 = 10hrs 40mins!

A person who's never done a install could do it in that amount of time, let alone professionals. Take it elsewhere or do it yourself.

A sway bar install takes about half an hour and spring/strut install is maybe 2hrs /wheel if you're slow.

I ordered the springs, shocks, and rear sway bar from mcgeorgeparts. And the dealer wants $800 to install the parts. That price has to be wrong.....

A professional with air tools and experience could probably do it in 4 hours not 10. Are they charging you flat rate or are they quoting you time?

Their charging me a Flat rate supposely this is what the secretary over there at scion told me, but she said she'll have her manager call me back. The exact price is $795 for install

Many people have had this problem (wher they bought the TRD springs or other stuff then tried to have them installed.) There is nothing you can do. What I did was negotiate the installed price on the TRD springs before I had the dealer order them for me. That way, when they tried to charge me close to $800 for the parts and installation combined, I already had the quote to back me up.

so you think I should try to negotiate a price? I mean $800 is kinda drastic you know? I don't mind paying $400 dollars....if they can give it to me for that.

The install can be done in as litle as 1.5 hours for an experienced person, $795 in labor charges is absolutely insane.

It takes me about 2.5 hours to swap out an entire suspension on cars that use a strut/spring suspension.

The "fear of Warranty Voidance" is why they are trying to charge that much and why people will pay it...

Read this post here, then get a reputable place to do it for a reasonable amount. If a part breaks, TRD will replace it in the first 12 months and you pay to have it reinstalled. Still cheaper than what the stealership wants to charge... And it's not like these are hi-tech electronics... When's the last time anyone's seen a spring do anything worse than sag?

I did that install on my TC in 4 hours with airtools and how-to's from this site.

No way it would take more than 4 for a dealer to do... 350-400 sounds about right for a dealer rippoff price...

Any more than that would be

I did the install for the first time, with air tools, in 4hours. That included eatting lunch and installing a sway bar. The install is cake. If I did it again I could probably get it done in 2.5 hours.
