Default scion security?

I got the scion security feature but the sale person at scion didnt know if that could be installed at the dealership. He thought it could only be put on at the manufacter when orders because of the key (the engine imobilizer)

Yes, it can be installed at the dealership. I've had customers add it on several times. Your salesperson may have been confused because a lot of dealers offer aftermarket alarms for Toyota's so it can get a little convoluted.

I think he's talking about the optional Scion Security system...you know the one that makes noises when people mess with your car.

Here's another question for you guys though:
I went to an alarm shop to see how much it would cost to install one of those lcd pager alarms they sell on e-bay. When I told the guy i have imobilizer, he said they need to make a kill switch. So basically the imoblizer becomes useless... So is this true if you get any aftermarket alarm your imobilizer will have to be turned off???

isn't that you need to change both immobolizer and ecu inorder to kill the immobolizer? correct me if i am wrong, but if immobolizer can get a kill switch on it, what's the point to have it in first place? i mean, if alarm shop can do it, why can't the thift?

also, the mic on toyota VIP alarm (same as the scion alarm) is lame, i try to tap the window with key, coin and some other metal, just can't set it on. go for the aftermarket one, the scion alarm is a rip off.

Haha. No offense, but the alarm isn't suppose to go off if the wind blows too hard or if someone with bad exhaust drives by your car when it's parked. It is supposed to go off if someone breaks the glass, or prys open the door, etc.

Same here, I think I'll get the dealer to up the sensitivity. Makes me nervous that I haven't been able to trigger the alarm save the panic button..
