Default Scion tC 2008 Spec vs Base opinion..

Hey Guys,

I am looking to buy 2008 Scion tC soon.
I want to know why the KBB value for the Base is more than Spec?

Also, what are differences and which one should I buy?

Thanks

Because spec came with less options. Mainly 16" steel wheels and a roof that can't be opened. Plus the non-specs have air bags in the seats.

^what he said. Spec cars were meant for people who were going to take off all the factory options (rims and things of that nature) anyway. Spec is more of a "blank slate" for people who want to customize their cars.

Spec, plastic steering wheel, steel wheels w/ hubcaps. No crankcase cover so you get to see your COP's all the time. No cruise control, very basic head unit. Plenty of subtle differences that is all up to what you wanna do with the car. If you just wanna leave it alone and enjoy it, Base is far better, leather wheel, CC, and lots of amenities that you'll love. Spec, is for the cheap ones, that wanna save a little cash by giving up premium option, and spec is easier to tear apart if you wanna built it from the ground up.

But I am pretty sure when I checked out this 2008 spec, I could open and close the sunroof fully.

Sometimes, I wish I would of bought the spec that was sitting next to the one I have now. But then the weather turns nice, and that roof opens up, extra money well spent!

He could have installed the sunroof afterward. Quite a few people that own Spec models have done that.

I'm not sure if the tC is like this or not, but I know the xB was.

All VIN's on a xB read Base +5spd trans. But on my xB I had a auto (extra) and a few other options that were not standard like cruise control and fog lights.

I've not paid enough attention when I am looking at my insurance to see if it is listed as a Spec or Base. I've always known it was a Base since it has the sunroof, 17's, projectors, and airbags extras.

Does it say "Spec/Base"? When I did a CarFax on my car, that what it said. I do not have a Spec.

if ur buying a spec, make sure u look into the performance parts thats installed. otherwise, i dont think it's worth it unless u consider aesthetic stuff more valuable.
