SCION TC , CANT WIN TO LOSE
Well my 05 tc with less then 20K miles which I take extreme care of and do mods was hit by an SUV today...I am fine, they are fine which I know is the important thing but their suv not a scratch, my tc...needs a new front end. The real kicker is that the driver of the suv calls his dad who gives me attitude for calling the cops when it was just a damaged front end. JUST A DAMAGED FRONTEND?!?!?! I almost lost my mind when he said that. plus everyone is cool about it till you give them a $1K+ bill and then they would be like...whoare you again? so yea first thing after they hit me was call the cops. So now I got the aggrevation of calling their insurance, calling the dealership, getting an estimate, submit it to their insurance, wait for them to give the olay and then when that is all done I can get my tc fixed. My poor baby has a hole and dent and scratches all on her face...poor girl, I feel for her and am glad there wasnt any very serious damage and everyone walked away. Just had to vent here on the website to those who would understand
I dont care what the wreck is like, the cops should always be called. They were being morons for getting mad about you calling them. Without a report, there is no proof of an accident.
who cares what they think? if you didn't call the cops, they can easily get away denial the accident and not pay for anything. Just go through the standard procedure and be worry free

2. That's not aggravation. That's an inconvenience. Aggravation is paying for the damages yourself.
I am with Engifineer on this.......you did the correct thing by calling the police......that way an accident report is on file by a third party and that way it willhelp show who is to blame for this.
sorry for your car being crunched........that hurts......make sure to place a claim for value on it as now it has lost a ot of resale value and you need to be equalized for that value......4 yoear old car with 20000 miles is still new and has held its value better than one that was driven 20000 miles a year......

You have to call the police-not even a question-when there is an accident. It won't be reconstructed title either so I know the feelings but your value should stay the same on the car.
Did the police report specify that it was their fault?

Yea the policy gave the guy that backed up a citation...I already called his insurance and am trying to get to the dealership to get an estimate...I am wondering sinc eI have the ground effects kit if they just pop that off and put it on the new front face or if that needs to get replaced as well? Also anyone think the body shop for the dealer is open on Saturday? Scion of Roswell GA in case anyone knows that dealer...thanx
A police report must be filed for any collision, regardless of fault or number of parties involved, in which property damage exceeds $500. So even if you hit a fire hydrant at night, in the middle of nowhere, a report has to be filed. 'Dem tings 'spensive.
Actually, it doesnt have too in all cases (at least not here). I was in a rear end collision here and no report was filed. Cop showed up, said it was in a private lot and he would note the plates and names in case there was a dispute, but would not file a formal report since there were no injuries. The guys insurance paid about $1500 bucks to fix my car.
I did have another incident where I never even called the cops... I had an old pickup, and a guy in a 3/4 ton never even touched his brakes behind me at a stop sign. Hit me going about 20 mph and knocked me out into the intersection. No one was hurt, but I was pretty upset obviously. All it did to my old truck was tweak the corner of the bumper (I didnt care about that on an old work truck). The guy was about to freak out until he heard I was ok. Next he was extremely nervous about the cops showing up. I said "you dont have a license do you???" he said.. "man, no. how much do you think it will take to fix your truck?" and opened his wallet, which had a 100 dollar bill, some 20's and some 10's in it. My reply? "That much". He handed me all his cash and I drove away
ended up with about $220 in my pocket :D
[quote="Dr_Isotope"]Are you an at-fault state? I know we are here, and the police report thing is enforced. Without the report, the ins. companies can't even prove an accident occurred.[/quote
We are a no-fault state.
