Scion tC a dangerous/unsafe car??
I just visited the Office of Defects Investigation website and looked up complaints for '05 to '07 tCs. There were alot of complaints about sunroof shatterings this and air bags doing that and even some tCs being lemons (wheels cracked, transmissions faulty and even one where the lemon tC was the cause of a crash). I love my tC and think it's a great car that's safe, sporty, put together well, mod-able, great looking and reliable (knock on wood
) so my question is: do you think you think the tC is all of the things labeled above?? or are all of us tC owners (or even other Scion cars) in danger of faulty air bags and raining glass or possibly serious accidents?
yea the only major thing ive seen has been the deflector and like neothin said they had a rcall on it. just search around SL for wrecked tc's. there have been some pretty bad crashes with our cars and almost all of the owners have walked away with very litle major injuries.
gloria had her rs2 in a bad accidnet, and she walked away. blackonblacktc had a bad frotn impact and walked away
my friend had a bad front impact and walked away
another person i know through the above friend rolled his car 4 times and then proceeded to roll it back onto its wheels via a large truck and a chain and then drove the thing home.
yep, safe cars.

no matter what the car...there will always be defects with a few of them. The only things i know of recalled/given service announcements were the sunroof defletor and the sunroof but they offer to fix it...good car!
you have to think about it this way... this is still a fairly new car... of course there ware going to be problems with it in the first couple of years. they have to have time to work out the kinks...
I had an '05 and got the wind deflector recall... that was taken care of. i was in a really bad accident where someone ran a red light and demolished my car (completely totaled) but it held up it's end and kept me completely safe. i walked away with a sore neck at whiplash when i easily could have been severely injured. this car is safe!!!
i've had my '07 for less than 2 weeks and i had to have a faulty tire pressure sensor replaced... it's just luck of the draw. if something goes wrong, it can be fixed... like said... scion is still working out the kinks...

Everything that has been 'faulty' Scion has approached better than any other car company me or my parents have dealt with. My dad picks up a new car about every two years because of the amount of driving he does, and he was blown away by the way scion handled the shattering glass deflector situation, the way they took care of the service quickly AND included an apology letter afterwards.
As far as safety is concerned, the numbers speak for themselves.
The NHTSA gave the tC four out of five stars in rollover, four stars for front side and rear side impacts, four stars for frontal passenger side impact and FIVE stars for frontal drive side impact.

I've had mine for about two and a half years.
It's still solid, and I feel safe in this car. You should rent a Corolla or something in a similar class if you get the chance, and see how they compare!
Neothin, Modified, and others already made some great points, just sayin'.

When I was buying my tC at the dealer...there was old couple who were walking to each Scion model. The husband kept shutting each driver's side door to each showroom car to get the feel. He didn't like the xB and the xA due to being too light but he felt the tC shut quite heavy since it was two doors; he didn't like it.
My sales girl and I were listening on their conversation then she told me this story. One snow storm; the dealer lot's plow truck plowed into brand new xB. Left huge rip into driver's side door and the door's rip look rugged like a lid off a tin can. Now hearing that; I'm actually happy to get rid of my old xA.
So on a side impact; we should be okay.

Couple weeks ago; I had this dumb b!tch who decided to make lane change to my lane while I was side by side with her and she didn't even look first
.....Oh did that girl quickly got into the right lane and quickly passed by! She's very lucky I saw her do that within second since I moved the tC to the median and hugged it so tight. She would of side swiped me and I would be fighting her within a second I got out of my car
That wouldn't been fun to see since it happened in front of my city's Toyota dealership...

I'll also vouch for the safety of the tC. I totaled my '06 when a Yukon (6800lbs.) hit me head on doing 40mph (I was at a standstill at 0 mph). A split second before the impact, I remember thinking "This is gonna HURT!"
I walked out without a scratch. It's a safe car! I'll deal with all the wind deflector nonsense and other quirks if it means I drive a super safe car that will save my life.
