Default Scion TC in Drag Racing

Hi, new to the board and have been reading around awhile. Just wanted to see some comments on a couple issues.
I guess I should give a little background on who we are first.
Exospeed Racing Products/Exospeed Race Engines specializes in Honda/Acura/Subaru race engines. Our main specialty are Block sleeving for the popular Honda motors as well as the EJ20 motor in the WRX. We also build high end drag, road race and street motors for these vehicles in which many make 600-700+hp in street and race trim.

What we wanted to know is the Scion communities' viewpoint on racing the TC in certain racing bodies such as SCCA, NHRA, NDRA and IDRC. Are any of you drag racing or at least street performance fans.
The reason being is we have been thinking of starting R&D on the TC for enthusiasts that want to compete or at least have high output street and race setups for the TC.
We were chosen to compete in a TC that would possibly follow either the PRO Hot Rod Class of the Sport Compact NHRA series or possibly build a Street Class Drag car that would compete in the Sport FWD NHRA. We're leaning toward the street class to be able to show the potential of the TC in street trim as well as competitive setups for the average enthusiast.

i think it would depend on how you are thiunking of improving the 2.4 aka f.i. or the like. without f.i. it's not gonna do much out there.

There's actually 2 programs for the TC right now. A FI car and an All motor TC that is going to compete next year.

you can do alot All Motor with a 2.4L Its not as easy and requires more internal modifications, but it can be done. But I think in the case of TC owners, Theyd rather FI than All Motor with a car like this. You wont see Carbs and Indiv Throttle Bodies in a high tech car like this. hehe.

We can do plenty with an engine. from block sleeving to going big bore. Custom pistons and rods, etc.

We havent gone on a complete tear down of the motor yet, but with Toyotas engineering. I'm sure they build a strong foundation to build upon.

exospeed is a wonderful company. They have made leaps and bounds with the Honda community. Good luck with your projects.

Thanks for the thumbs up Jeff. We appreciate that coming from you.

We're still not sure which route to tackle. As much as we like racing, when it comes down to it, we dont want to spend all this time doing R&D and no one else take advantage of what we learned. If there is no need for performance in a certain market, I really wouldnt want to do it.
I guess we want something that can be easily copied by others so they can take advantage of the knowledge we learn.

agreed. its going to take a little time for people that aren't hybridizing thier vehicles to jump in with both feet for true performance. We both know its going to take alot of money and time to dig into these motors. Having a fairly new platform most aren't willing to give up their warrenty quite yet. There are some things most would be willing to swap out such as intake manifolds, Intakes, throttle body upgrades, injectors, ecu or management changes, exhaust manifolds, etc. By doing this they can simply swap back thier stock parts if they get "cold feet". You and I both know that isn't where your potential is. Your company builds strong quality motors and parts. Simple as that. On one had you can take it the simple route and probably help a ton of people or you can put something together that is at the top of the game. Tough call when its supply and demand.

I also see that with the low cost of these vehicles maybe people are ready for a real buildup? replies people?

I would like to see and the engine being NA, im not sure what is ussually expected, since we can't get like cam gears due to timming chains i think, but it wouls be nice to keep the same liters if we have to add nothing radical, and i dunno 300 at the wheels?? just puttin a number, thanks for the interest on the TC,
P.S Raise compresion and redline to like 7 1/2 or 8 grands mmmm

Exospeed no way! I was mentioning you guys about a month ago on this site saying how when my engine's eventually built, I'd be going to you. I emailed you a few months ago to get a full race motor for my turbo 2002EX. My username there was MadWheel. Ring a bell?

Anyway nice seeing you here. I am working with Dezod on getting my car boosted. When money permits I plan on emailing your for some head work. Welcome to the site man!

The Tc platform is the most promising to built up because of the engine thats already in it. Swapping motors is a good idea too if possible. But the look and style of the tC is sweet to make into a race setup.

Getting recognition in this industry is very difficult. There's so much Bandwagon and hype that the consumer doesnt look deeper into reality.
We have been in the drag racing scene since the first couple years of Battle of the Imports in the early 90s. And it took us this long to fine tune our skills and finally share to others what we learned in the Honda scene.
I'm confident in my team to be able to tap into the Scion motors but like I've said, we'll do what people ask for. Once we get stuff teared down and inspected, we'll look into the NA possibilities. Its a bit harder than FI, but Im sure its possible.

TCguy: Our 02+ D17 Civic R&D is on its way also. We are completing a turbo d17 block right now for a customer. I just hope more Civic owners are willing to build up a newer car like this.

Yeah man, the true tC gearheads will definately look for you. I know I'm on the other side of the states, but if you need me to help test some stuff for you let me know. Dezod's been hooking me up too so if there's anything we can all come up with together then let me know.
