If you do the work yourself and don't spring for the extra headlights you can halve that cost.

If you can sell the headlights to use in a retrofit, why didn't you just use those headlights for your retrofit?

If you wanted to do the HID but didn't want the angeleyes, how much would it have been total?

he probably wanted to be able to drive his car while the retrofit was being completed..and for how much itd be without the angel eyes, probably not much cheaper because the projector retrofit is what makes it so expensive, the angel eyes shouldnt be too much money.

I would be willing to bet that that projector would be unacceptable for HID though. Just like TYC and Depo and everyother ligthing manufacturer, aftermarket projector housings use a very low quality (cheap) halogen projector.

angel eyes wouldn't have changed the price much, You can find a deal on projetors, ballast, blubls etc. on ebay you can definetly get away with a retro cheaper then what I paid, It was Pliepl who is doing the retro

Do you think there is any chance of someone selling premade projector housings for the tC? Would that be illegal if they "pretended" that they were for use with the stock Halogen bulbs, but after getting them you could just get and HID bulbs and ballast and have a good HID setup? Other than a really nice Nav until, a really nice HID setup is something I really want. I just don't want something home made.

I suppose, but the companies that would be making them would be worried more about cutting costs than providing a relatively niche product. The typical buyer of an aftermarket headlight is not interested in quality of light.

It seems like it wouldn't be hard to build a quality projector housing and that such a housing, custom built for the tC, would be more reliable than a retrofitted projector from another car. I don't want something that has been cut up and expoxied into my car if possible... damn Scion... why don't THEY sell this as an option? Oh yeah... so there is something left for Toyota to sell.

from looking at the pics . it looks like it was

PLIEPL from hidretro.com (he posts on hidforum as well) ... he is the same person that did my retro .. and i actually saw those same pics from his as well

the projectors being used are hella e55 bi-xenons...imo the absolute WORST projector on the market today as far as performance goes.. but hey .. they are not my headlights

Liep does TOP NOTCH work .. he just finished my xB retro not too long ago

if any if you are considering going for hids .. check out hidretro.com

on a side note.. DO NOT LET SCURT do a retro for you ... his work is crap ... he had many complaints on hidforum.com before it was hacked and went down (not its hidplanet.com) ... his work is shotty and his customer service sucks
