I work in the local news biz ... As I watched the video of the scene of a fatal car accident, I realized it appeared there was a Scion tC police car in the background.



Yes? No? I couldn't find any better video of it. Either way.. it's definately a real police vehicle. Not rent-a-cop. Maybe anti-gang task force or something?

It's been a while since I've posted here, but as a small update... my 2005 tC is alive and well. I bought it new in Oct 2004 and it now has 59,000 miles on it. I paid it off in less than two years and has been the best car purchase I've ever made. I even opted to sell my weekend Porsche over the Scion when I moved to a place with one garage spot.

 

Mmmm... Thats looks like an impala to me, notice the glow where the license plate is recessed into the bumper?

 

I thought that too, but it looks so much like a 2-door it keeps throwing me off. Another difference from the tC is the hump going over the front wheel well... it's quite bold.

Perhaps... unless it was used as a ticket-giver... or recruitment... or anti-gang... or "hey kids! this cop is cool bc he's not driving a Ford!" kind of thing

 

Not really, at least in California they have Camaro cop cars (mainly for intercept purposes, after they catch you, they radio for a cop car that can take you away)

 

Look at the brake light too. It looks to be in the window, not on the bumper.

 

With all the automated red light cameras now, they should be able to afford some BMW's in Harris county

CHP has quite a few Camaro cop cars, and those are only 2 door.

I would know personally since...I was pulled over by one.

 

I've seen 2 mustang cop cars in Portland, Or. One was a state and the other was an unmarked. Didn't even look like a cop car, Maroon or dark red in color with dark tinted windows.
