Default Scion tC vs. Acura TL

So my car recently got past the "break-in" period but I have been so busy lately that I haven't had the chance to really open her up. So I pick up a friend of mine last night at like 11PM and we decide to go to like the only place around that I can open up.... Route 309. Well, It's a little windy, so I was nervous to go all out, plus the fact that I had someone else in the car made me feel a little more uneasy, but I got her up to 125MPH. So I'm flying by a couple cars and then a bend is comin` so I slow down and next thing I know, this Acura is kinda pullin up next to me. So I know he wants to race... Well, I've never been in a race before, so I was nervous/anxious to do it. So we finally get to a traffic light and stop. I had a bad start but I still managed to beat him in the start and it was up until middle of 3rd gear that he started pulling on me, so I accepted defeat. So we get to another one, but there were train tracks ahead, so I'm like "I'm not racing at this one" to my friend but of course the guy doesn't really know that. So the light turns green and he smokes em` but I was just all causal hahah So I thought that was funny, but we got up to another light and the same thing that happened at the first light happened again... I guess I need to get the jitter-bugs out of my system and get good on my starts. I was really happy with how I did for my first time. I thought it was cool how I beat him off the start. I was especially impressed when I came home and checked out the specs on the car and saw that it's like a 225+ HP V6 (I think that's the lowest for the 2004) I'm not exactly sure if he had any upgrades or which edition of the TL he had... It might have even been a 2005 in which it would have had even more HP., but I dunno.... I was all wound up afterwards though hehe... It was a lot of fun. I guess I have to read up on the racing-lingo somewhere because he turned his lights on/off I guess to say "Peace" or something of that sort but I wasn't sure. I look forward to taking on more cars hehe

dude although it was a cool story you have to watch your speed a little more. 125mph is a lot of speed, any little bump can throw you off and at that speed the chances of you survivng a crash are 1/10000000.

Yeah, I was a little worried about that, but you know what they say... "Curiosity killed the cat." And I was just curious of any limiters on the car. Which I still do not know, but I now know that it's not 110 like my friend predicted.

Yea, just don't drive stupid.

Now, for the TL, was it the new body style or the old? If it was one of the newer body styles (04+) then it'll have 270 hp. Older ones depending on whether it was a type S or not, will either have 225 or 260. Either way it should still beat out our tC's. And btw, my mom has an 04 TL, and it's nice as hell.

What do you mean it did not happen? hahahah It's not like I said I smoked the guy... I said he beat me... I know it's faster than my car, but I didn't really care... I just had fun doing it.

I'm not exactly sure to be honest, but I assume it was the 225HP. Yeah, after going home and checking out the specs, I knew I had not chance of ever beating him (at least stocked,) but it was just a lot of fun, so I thought I would share :D

I think they're allright. Not very bright, but I think they still look cool. I also got them in the Cup Holder (Which I didn't even know was an option, but they game it to me because they didn't have the LED kit on the day of pickup) Which look really cool, I like them a lot.

FWIW flashing your hazards after a street race is a way of declaring victory and making sure that everyone knows that you have just been punk'd. king of like saying 'next?'

My best friend has a new Acura TL, and a tC could not beat it.
It has a 0-60 of 5.7sec. and a 1/4 mile of 14.4 sec.
Granted it doesn't feel very fast, it has a LOT of pick up once it gets up in higher gears....and it has a top end of 152mph.

It makes sense you beat him up to 3rd, but after that those TLs take off.

Be safe.

He didn't flash his hazards... He turned his light off/on. And then I guess he saw me turning off the road we raced on and he did it again.... So I'm assuming it was his way of saying "Bye"

Yeah, once we hit 3rd gear I knew it was over, but it was still a lot of fun and a good rush.

I got whooped but I still love my tC

A stock Scion tC is pretty decent performance wise. It sucks that it'll get beat on by a V6 TL. However, when compared to other stock cars in its class like the new Honda Civic si, the Mini Cooper, and the Saturn Ion quad coupe it beats them with a 0-60mph of 7.4 seconds and a standing 1/4 mile of 15.7@ 88mph. Not bad considering its low price tag. As for the governor it's set at 127 mph*
I guess we'll just have to wait for ther supercharger and the AEM cold air intake to fry the bigger fishes out there. I'm sure there'll be a ton of performance parts available for our beloved tcs within the next year or so.

What was you rpm at 125mph? Hows the sound of your engine, is it still quite and feel like you can put more speed.?
