Default Scion TC w/TRD supercharger vs. RSX type S?

For those of you who have the FACTORY (TRD) supercharger, that is supposed to give you 200 bhp, how would you compare your modified TC in terms of power, speed, responsiveness etc. to the Acura RSX type S? I now that the RSX has a V-Tech engine which is supposedly like Honda's supercharger, but I was just curious to know if the TRD supercharger really makes that much of a difference, as compared to the RSX because I know that those things are really responsive/quick?

Quick end to that line of inquiry. Sorry, but blame Toyota for that mess.

Well, going off estimates, the SC tC should win.

A comparable (or slightly slower) vehicle that already exists would be the ION Redline (SC 2.0 Liter) which does 0-60 in 6.3 seconds. A new Type S does it in about 6.2 seconds (according to Car and Driver). Now with a SC 2.4 liter, you'd expect a slightly quicker 0-60 (go torque go), and it'd be even quicker if they gave us a Limited Slip Differential

In the quarter mile, it might be a different story

ill answer.

the TC w/ SC will OWN the TYPE S.

but then again, skill is still involved. im guessin the SC puttin 60hp is going to b in the 14's if so, the type S stock fastest time is 15.0

The vtec only kicks in when over 6k rpm, and if i remember correctly it redlines at 8k...i know theres a chip that fixes that but it voids the warratny so i'd say tc would take it.

tc=2950lbs
rsx s=2700lbs

tc sc= 200 hp 200 trq
rsx s= 200 hp 140 trq

let's say for argument sakes 300 lbs. I would gladly add 300 lbs to my car for 60 lbs of torque.

^^^ what rsx-s you comparing? Cause the '05 rsx-s is 2840 lbs. Stock manual tC listed is 2905 lbs (dunno how much the s/c will add) so I'll gladly take 60 lbs of torque over 110 lbs (just a guestimate) oh ... and minus 10 hp.

Isn't the Supercharged tC going to be 200hp at the wheels? In which case it definitely owns.

I mentioned in your last post about the supercharger that it wasnt out.. and explained the sc and turbo very thoroughly. The VTEC is not at all a supercharger, it is a way of using two cam profiles to make the car run at its best at low and high rpms. The tC has VVTI which uses constantly variable cam timing to do the same thing. The VTEC is a little bit better... but the VVTI is very good as well... it does it by changing the cam angle. A supercharger in no way resembles VTEC or VVTI.. it is forced induction, driven off the crank ....... a turbo is forced induction driven off the exhaust gas.

^^^ That being said VVTI and VTEC or only similar in one thing. Valve Timing. At higher rpms VVTI and VTEC overlap the exhaust and intake valves. But this is where the similarities stop. Cause at higher rpms VTEC* uses Lift Technology wich VVTI lacks. BUT VVTL-I and I-VTEC are pretty much the same. VVTI = No lift, VVTL-I = lift.

oh damn, here we go again. nobody is really sure if 200 hp is going to be at the wheels or the crank for the SC TC. like everyone here already said vtec is in no way shape or form a SC. vtec on my rsx stock engages at 5800 rpms and redlines at 7900 rpms. the new 05's redline at 8100 rpms. God bless hondata for their reflash cuz that makes my vtec kick in at 5200 rpms and redlines at 8600 rpms. i'm not quite sure which car will win but the advantage will have to go to the SC tc. but only time will tell once TRD releases their SC.
