Scratches in Paint
Hi all!
Ok, I have been reading that the Scion paint jobs are necessarily one of the best. Needless to say they do scratch pretty easy. So today my DH was driving to work and something from the road flew up and put scuff marks on the bumper and part of the hood of our Tc. He tried the Nano wax, did not work so well. So anyone got any ideas/suggestions on how to cover the scratches other than a new paint job!. He said it was down to the primer- you could see the white under the paint. Our Tc's color is black pearl.

As far as the ones that were down to the primer, you'd have to either repaint the area or just use a fine paintbrush (not the one in the bottle) of touch up paint (can get from the dealer) to fill in the marks.

You can also try fine sanding it lightly. I recommend using 1200 grit then follow that with a 3000. 3M carries that fine of a sand paper. Then follow that with a 3M Extra Cut compound with a buffer and a wool pad, then after that use 3M Rubbing Compound to shine it up. Works well but if you can feel it with your fingernail it most likely is going to need to be painted.
Im sorry BlueTC06, but I do not agree with your response.A new paintjob is not an affordable solution plus touch up paint can work well if you have patience and do it the right way. There are lots of forums on this at autopia.org
