Default Seat Belt Beeping!!

this is an old post but many newbies have been asking for it so here it is.....

This is all you have to do and you will not de-activate your airbags or have to remove any wires.it works!!!!!
#1 turn on ignition and make sure the odometer is the active not the trip meters.

#2 press the odometer reset button for at least ten seconds.

#3 while holding the reset button plug the safety belt in.

#4 if you did this right the display will now read b-off and if you press the reset switch again it will say b-on.

Interesting... does the flashing light on the dash still come on? Or is that part of the same alert system that is turned off?

I wouldn't say the beeping annoys me b/c I always have my seatbelt on... but what really drives me nuts is the beeping when you have the door open with the key in the ignition. Like when I go to the carwash and want to vacuum is out and all I hear is the damn beeping.

I might try this though - could be just another little thing that goes away.

i just pulled the little plug-in under the driver seat. becareful thought there are 2 plug-ins. the SMALL one is the seatbelt beep. and the LARGER one is for the airbag sensor.

pull the small one out and the beeping stops.

LEAVE THE PASSENGER SIDE ALONE!

(not responsible if you pull the wrong one and something bad happens)

There isn't any reason to unplug anything and take the chance of unknown consequences if you just follow the above instructions and deactivate the beeping the correct way.

So does the tC. It beeps, then beeps really fast when you start driving, then stops and starts back up again. I am not sure what the time interval is, but it also starts up everytime you stop and take off again. Really sucks when I am driving back and forth from building to building at work!!!!

wtf?

scion was nice enough to provide a means for turning off an annoying beep and you go nilly-***** yanking wires? dude, read the manual before someone gets hurt (i hope that yelling about the passenger side wasn't a result of a passenger casualty because you yanked a wire when the "open door" light was ticking you off). jk

The beep turnoff is not in the manual, at least not mine. ^^

And, that method does not work on mine for some reason. Beep stays on. Its not that big of a deal though.

I tried this and it doesn't work in mine. I tried for 10 seconds and then also tried for 30 seconds. Doesn't read anything on the display and the beep is still there. No biggie though b/c I don't really care, but just FYI for some of you.

thanks engifineer, by read the manual, i really should have typed "read the manual" or, READ THE FREAKIN' MANUAL! or some such facsimile of that sentiment. i meant it in the "know what you are doing before disconnecting stuff" sense, not "the manual has the easter eggs in it" sense (haven't actually checked.)

i didn't literally mean the one in the glove box, but thanks for pointing that out, my bad.

i turned mine off a couple days after i got the car, ('cause i found icdedppl's faq) and it did take several attempts....(coulda been the rolling rocks though.)

I got it to work...

But I had to use icdedppl's FAQ... it mentioned a part about pressing the reset button within 6 seconds of turning the key on. I'm pretty sure I wasn't doing that part of it.
