Good thread. Comforting to hear. Let's see now...

-Alpine IVA w200: Cover it up every time I'm parked at home... When I had to give my mom a ride one day the truth came out when she wanted to change the station

-TRD exhaust: bought it cuz it looks quite stock and isn't really loud. Tried to hide it from the gf cuz she doesn't like me "wasting my money on my car." Unfortunately she was w/ me the day I had to pick it up so she found out the worst way possible. All I got was "I can't believe you went behind my back and didn't tell me." My parents haven't really notice the stock exhaust in the garage yet . I guess it's inconspicouous cuz it's all black and it's w/ a bunch of junk.

A rule ALL straight men should follow as well. Just do what I do...

1. Admit you're always wrong and she's always right. (Even though we know better.)
2. (A) Pretend to listen when she talks. (All she wants to do is vent.)
2. (B) Nod your head every once in a while when she talks. (Makes you seem interested in what she's saying.)
3. Compliment her. (A couple of beers help the compliments flow from your mouth.)
4. Take out the trash.
5. Do yard work.

These simple rules will help you achieve a healthy and happy relationship.

Back on topic; when my gf asks me what I spent my $$$ for on my tC I just tell her, "It wasn't nearly as much as that 20th purse you needed." That pretty much shuts her up for a while.

Just to add on to 2 (A) (B):

Throw in a few "yeahs" and "I understands" and maybe a "really" or two. This will help her think you are actually a part of her conversation... see how I said "her".

You can save money while living at home. Hell bet he can mod out more then I can living in an apartment. But, if the car is the only one you are supporting its a good life.

^^ bad advice, girls notice it when you do that- thats why we get mad lol..we aren't stupid

anyways.. back on topic before this becomes a guys and girls thing....

Im not sure which one is worse/better... having your independence but no money to spend... or having no independence with more money to spend..

Ive been out of the house and away from my parents since I was 14-boarding school. Now going to school and living in a tiny apartment with my bf -and he is the one who got me into modding cars-he's got a 3000gt. So i never really have to hide anything..on the other hand, car loan, bills, rent, not a lot of money to spend.

Well so far I bought with out permission from my wife:
Weapon R intake
Cold Air Box
fog lights

I find overal that if you reason with her and plead a very good case on how much money you are saving and you won't buy anything else you usually can get it but after saying that for a couple of months she catches on. Next resort secret credit card. lol

Here's my view on this statement:

1)Don't always take the blame b/c your gf can make mistakes too......it's give and take
2)A)If you think this is true, wait and see her reaction when she asks you to confirm something she had stated and you say "What?"....yeah, great advice
2)B)Why? Eye contact is more noticed than a head bob
3)Pathetic if you have to use alcohol to actually tell your girl nice things
4)And what else?
5)What about cooking and washing dishes?

I know this all may have been a joke, but from my experience with my ex, if you always let the other win and always take the blame, you will be walked over and you are actually pushing yourself away. If your gf is smart enough to see this, she will sense the distance and either comfront you about it, or give you your space to cool off. 9/10 times you will be comfronted and then a fight will break out b/c you will feel threatened and cornered, although she's in the right and you put yourself into that corner.

It's all give and take and until you can find someone that is willing to be just as wrong as she/he is right, you're still not ready for a relationship.

And now, we have gone wayyyyyyyyyyyyyy off topic

hMmm.. lets see:

TRD intake - not too hard to hide.. just dont open the hood when u dont want people to know...

tanabe sway bar - same as intake

fog lights - uMmm.. "what if it gets foggy? want me to crash and die?"

Injen Exhaust - oh man.. i get an ear-full everytime i pull into my girlfriends driveway.. "its so loud! why did you buy it!? next time you pick me up, put the car in neutral and push it into the driveway."

hotckis drop - eh.. not too hard..

all my stock parts are scattered amongst my friends houses (because i dont ahve a garage). the day my parents and girlfriend know all thats gone into the car, ill tell them that "this is how i got the car...what u talkin bout?"

until then.. KEEP MODDIN

I sold my +500whp 76 Stingray for an engagement ring (a big one) and my bikes shortly there after ... now I slowly and quietly mod my tC. Its not really behind my wife's back tho, it just never gets brought up. Ever. ...so long as I don't go too obviously over board.
