Are Semi Metallic Brakes Good? and i got 3000.00 miles is it time to change my brakes?

 

lol, only if you drive REALLY hard on em.

mine lasted for about 34 thousand miles.

your brakes should last much longer than 3000 miles.

 

I'm at 24,000, still going good.

 

you have a long time till you have to worry about brakes. You probably still have like 95% left on your pads

 

semi-metallic are okay, but they've been known to squeal when braking because they have metal in them.. i know it's obvious.

carbon-kevlar brake compounds are quiet and have great stopping power. the stock brakes are organic, they do that so they stay quiet.

 

Plus you have the whole break dust thing that sucks with metallic pads

 

tc_mich, I'm guessing carbon-kevlar brakes are expensive, right?

 

you sure he got 95% left? i got around 30 as well and its all squiking while braking and my rims are full of brake dust. i didnt have that before.

 

well on my last car I got them from www.porterfield-brakes.com they were $89.95 front and $79.00 rear. Since our brakes come from the celica, they do have them, but have to make sure which celica our brakes come from. As porterfield doesn't list the scion tC yet..

so a little more expensive yes, but they are still lasting on my old car, and that was a couple years ago!

hey not a problem! the one that I ordered before was the Porterfield R4-S (for street use) brake pad.

 

That was an estimate trying to point out that there is no way that he needs pads. Try cleaning your wheels and you won't have brake dust all over them.
