Default Shady Pricing at Longo Toyota/Scion Service Department?

So I called the service department to set up an appointment. The first person gave me a price of $118.00 for the basic 60K maintenance. That sounded resonable except for the fact that I have their website open and the price was $102.90. So I called her out on it and she immediately transferred me to a service advisor named Andrew from the Express team. He explained that it will be $211 because of the transmission fluid flush/drain/replacement(which I needed). I asked him how much was the basic service without the transmission fluid service, he told me $118, offering the soundbite that it was the same price as the 30K service. The problem is that I have the LongoScion service page open . 30K service on a tC? $73.40.

Now either someone didn't update the website or someone somewhere is keeping the extra money. We'll see when I bring the car in...

Print out the page and bring it to them... if they give you a big fuss about it.. just ask for you key an tell them your going somewhere else.. watch how fast they will be willing to give you a discount.

Could be that the website is not updated regularly or the prices on the website don't include tax (which is always a biatch)
Good luck tho

I checked the prices on the dealer website where I got my tC from and this is what I got:

15000 miles maintenance = $99.00
30000 miles maintenance = $229.00
60000 miles maintenance = $229.00

Either way the prices you got are way better than mine

I checked the tax.

Tax comes out to ~$111 @8.25%

I don't think they add gratuity to service charges...

I wouldn't mind if it matched the website price, but it didn't. That was the main problem.

just print it out and bring it to them. Make sure it says longo somewhere on it and if they say anything contradicting the price drive away and get on the phone with scion customer care. They'll put an end to that. Thats really strange that a place like longo would throw prices around at you like that. I just checked my dealer toyota of Rancho Santa Margarita, sister dealership to longo. Their price for a 60,000 mile service is $189.95, which is absolutely crazy you'd think dealers run by the same guy would have atleast similar priceing. But ya anyway bring in that page and show it to them.

Really? I have only been there once. What are some of the horror stories? They seemed pretty good to me from my one visit there.

Basically, they charge Asian people that don't speak English well a higher interest rate than what their credit allow for. One guy was charged 19.6% interest when he could've been paying 6%.

Personally, their service department has not been kind to my dads old Corolla. Compared to Wondries Toyota, Longo's service department is exceptionally good.

I don't recall the exact details, but my father's coworker straight out told him "don't ever take your car to wondries!". Apparently, the service department had screwed something up.

On a more personal level, my girlfriend's Corolla has been in and out of that shop. On her last check up they found a nail in a tire, and they supposedly fixed it. Mind you, this tire wasn't more than 2 months old. A week later her tire was flat again. We took it back but even now the tire still gets low.

Also, on a previous check-up, I mentioned to the service rep that the brakes were acting up. I had noticed that at freeway speeds, whenever I used the brakes to slow down I would feel vibrating. I told him that it was fine on the street, that it only did it at high speeds. When we got the car back, the guy said "we drove the car around the block and the brakes feel fine."
