Default Should I buy a tC????

The dealer called me and said my '09 Super White tC should be in within a few days....

HOWEVER, I swear the more I hang around this forum, the more stories I read about CHEAP PAINT and also SQUEAKS and RATTLES!! Is it really that bad??

I'm starting to get cold feet guys.... help me out!

Thanks!

Jeff

well, i duno if ur going for gas mileage and stuff...its not really gonna please u at all. It's a good car, but yes tehre are rattles and it's rather annoying. I don't mind the paint job, its not as atrocious as some of these people say it is. Decent power for a 4cyl car. Good enuff accessories and tons of room to add little things to make it feel right for u. U should go test drive it, and make sure u like it b4 u get it tho. Good luck.

Test drive it and think it through. And look into other cars in your price range.

I've test driven it 3 times now.... I like the car, I'm just worried about LONG term...

I've also looked at the Honda Civic (too plain) and also the Mazda 3 s 4dr.

I really like the tC but am coming from an Acura TL Type-S which was the quietest car ever.... even at 92,000 miles.

I'm not expecting a $35,000+ dollar car out of a $19,000 price tag but at the same time I don't want a rattle trap. I've had that with a Ford Mustang (twice)

WAY too expensive of a car to keep without a warranty. Plus my model year (2002) had very, very bad transmission issues.

When I bought my tC, there was a couple of things that I had considered. One of the big ones was cargo. I have a decent sized guitar rig that I need to lug around to gigs/rehearsals. It consists of an Avatar 4x12" speaker cab that is 30"x30"x14" and weighs close to 100 lbs. a Bogner Ecstasy (XTC) amp that is 11"x27"x10" weighing in at 53 lbs., 2 guitars in hardshell cases, a pedalboard in a hard case the size of a small briefcase and a duffel bag full of other goodies (i.e. tools / cables / strings / tubes / e.t.c.). I can fit all that in my tC if I take out my subs and fold the rear seats down (no room for extra passengers though, oh well).

Couldn't do that with any other car due to the size of the speaker cab without getting something bigger, and I had just gotten rid of my Ford Expedition, so I needed a rear hatch, and the only other car close to what I wanted in this category was a VW GTI. Having two friends with nothing but bad experiences with their turboed VW's, I decided I would stick with Toyota as they have never led me astray.

That, and the Scion dealer that I talked with was probably one of the coolest sales guys I have ever dealt with. Never tried to force anything down my throat, there was no pressure, just incredibly informative. I got all the sleaze ball tactics whenever I was at a VW dealership. Guess I just felt like I was getting a lot more for my money with the tC, and the whole buying experience was really comfortable. It was my first time actually buying a car, and it proved to be more exciting than nerve racking like I thought it would be.

I hope that kind of helps you. If you have any questions, just let me know.

Ben

If you're worried about rock chips you could opt for a 3m clear bra...if you can find a cheap installer.

Imo silver maintains the 'like-new finish' the best. Turn up the music if you get interior rattles.

I love my TC that's all I can say.. Lot of goodies to customize it with, easy install on most parts, pretty damn reliable, sure there are rattle sometimes but its not to the point where you go krazy. Also when you drove the TC 3 times did you hear squeeks or anytn like that?

Trust me man your gona like the car and just all the krazy stuff you can do to it.

No. Most of the cheap paint issues that I've run into can be fixed with a bra, clear or otherwise... and the only squeaks/rattles issues I've had (in my '07) are covered under warranty.

my moms 03 type-s had the same transmission problem, there was a massive recall on it and if you take it to acura they should replace it

I think the TC is the best car in its class. The only thing that might be built better is a small mazda3.

It must be good enough if I am going to hold off my purchase of the new Lexus IS-F and really think about buying a TC to greatly modify out on.... or Im seriously crazy.
