Default Should I get the Toyota subwoofer?

Got my Silver Streak tC a week ago and I'm loving it (cept for the roof creaks, which I'll hopefully get fixed soon, I can make it happen on a speed bump easily). I have the 6CD changer, sounds pretty good though I definitely want more bass (I can rattle the stock ones too easy). I was disappointed that the tC wasn't pre-wired for the sub and looks like a pain to DIY.

Does anyone have the Toyota bazooka one? Is it any good? I know it's molded to the trunk shape, which is a plus. Also, did you get it dealer installed? Since it's not pre-wired anyway, what would be the drawback of going to an aftermarket sub and installer besides the shape?

I wanna make the right choice. Keep in mind I don't need insane-o loud bass that every car around me can hear. I just want it to be crisp and semi-loud so I can feel it when I want to.

Thanks!

Welcome to the forum... but please do a search on this topic. It's been discussed a thousand times already.

No need to do a search. I have an xB, and the Bazooka Tube, and I do like it, but I will definitely upgrade the sub when I blow the stock one. I like the tube for it's compact size, and will replace the sub that's in it, once I tear the hell out of it.

hope this helps.

He's talking about the tC sub that comes in nice molded enclosure. Never heard it, but looks like 10" is more than enough for clean crisp sound. I did not get it because I like the storage on the right - my flashlight and frontend mask are there. So I just bought a scion bazooka harness (plugs right into the stock HU), and hooked up 8" bazooka tube - also plug and play - no splicing / t-tapping, etc. The install took me a total of 30 minutes, now I have enough bass to enjoy the music. The tube is set to 1/8th of it's power.

i got the system but mine's port installed. my friend got her's with the car, but they dealer installed hers and i watched the whole process. the instructions are very good and the installaion is VERY easy... the car comes apart very nicely. definitely a DIY-able accessory.

Dood! Please please please take detailed pics of the sub and its surroundings - does it make the storage compartment on the passenger side of the trunk unreachable?

Where can I pick up a bazooka harness for the tC? Is it the same as the other Scions?

HU's are the same, car length is very similar - it is the same harness I ordred mine from partznet.com, but I'm sure any dealer can hook you up. do a search here for part no, otherwise they can't order it...

dunno if you can just pick up a harness... call your service dept for info...

if you're reffering to the storage compartment under the floor panle next to the spare, no it doesn't block it... Scion designed it in a way so that even the floor panel and cargo mat fit without a problem... its actually kind of suspended attached to the side, not resting on it's bottom.

Yes, it does. I'll be installing mine tomorrow and hopefully taking some pics.

The sub itself looks nice. You'd easily pay $300 for a custom box this shape and size to fit the car. I didn't realize it before, but the back is all contoured to fit the shape of the interior panel that it sits against.

yeah, I meant if it blocks the passenger side floor "flap" - is it possible to open it without taking out the whole spare cover. So I guess it does block it and the only way to get in there is to remove the spare tire cover... Sux. I guess I'll stick to the tube then.
