So i just got a new Greddy ti-c exhaust and it sounds a little raspy. But not that much.

I was wondering what does taking out the silencer do? and if it makes it sound better or worse?

I also have headers and ive been told that it might be causing the raspy noise.

Any advise please? Thanks

 

aftermarket header + aftermarket exhaust = raspy
all you need to do is have a 30" resonator installed post cat and it should be good

 

you should get an s pipe because its the most restrictive part of a tc's exhaust. then get two nice 18' resonators welded in to your mid pipe. you should be good.

 

Thanks, but what kind of sound will i get by removing the silencer? Better or worse?

It's going to sound horrible with the silencer off. tC + headers - resonators = rasp.

 

he's talking about silencers though... take it off and see. it shouldn't be hard to take off anyway. it'll be louder, but the tone might get deeper. not sure

 

He has headers. No matter what set of headers you have with whatever cat/axel back you have, it will sound terrible without resonators. That's what I was trying to get at.

Well my last question would be, what would be the best resonator to get and where exactly does it go in the exhaust?

 

magnaflow is really good, nice sound, get one 30' or two smaller ones. take it to a shop and the'll cut out the old one on your mid pipe and weld it in.

 

I just took off the silencer and it sounds 100times better. the rasp noise is almost completely gone and its a lot deeper. only down fall is that its not as quiet on the beltway. but cant complain. great sound. im loving dis exhaust so far.

i wasn't able to get a video clip yet but ill sure due that tonight if not tomorrow.

 

I still recommend putting in the resonators. It'll get annoying after a while.
