I got my TRD exhuast from Longo Scion today -- finally. Service was cool. Go Longo!

Anyways, after the 30 min drive home, I noticed a smell coming from around the back end of the car. I'm thinking it's coming from the new exhaust and that it may be a break in type smell. Sort of like the spray they put on the new engine. Anyone?

 

I'll update everyone if this smell goes away within the next few days. Hopefully it does.

 

might be a price tag or somethin that was left on the metal... it should go away, i remember when i first got my greenstuff pads they were smoking a little, but enough for me to notice while driving... went away, was just breaking in... dont sweat it :D

Does it smell kind of like solder? I noticed a smell when I first got my tC ... it went away after about 1500 miles. I assumed it was the new exaust

 

I had no smell from my TRD exhaust install. But I would think your TRD smell will go away like you said in a few days.

it was just the metal burning threw and braking in.

The smell is common. It will go away after a few days. Same thing happened when I got my TRD in the XB. :D

 

the smell you are mentioning is normal. it happens with all new mufflers. it goes away after a few hours of driving. don't lose any sleep over it.

maybe stylis can give a technical answer on why and how the smell comes about.

 

Yeah, I wasn't sweating it. Just making sure if it was normal or not. I love my new TRD exhaust!
