Snow + Toll Booth = Poor tC
Poor tC. Poor poor tC. We had our first snow fall of the year in Virginia and my first try driving my tC in snow. It started out nice enough, minor flurry, but then it got real ugly once I got to the toll road. Survived the visibility of 5 feet only to find that the snow had been compacted to a sheet of ice at the toll booth. Hit the brakes but kept going. It's one of those time when you see what's happening but you can't do anything but brace yourself and hope for the best. Anyway, hit a tow truck.
It was a VERY slow collision, if it was another car probably woulda nudged him but with no damage to either of us, but the tow truck had one of them metal tow things exactly the height of the grill where the tC logo is and the plastic grill was no match. Shoved right in and hit my radiator. No damage on tow truck, dude just laughed at it, but my poor tC has to go to the shop tomorrow.
People have commented on the tC tires and handling on snow but can't blame the tC. People, even 4 wheel drives, were slipping all around me, but warning to all, toll booths pile on ice fast. Especially when the weather forecast did not predict this much snow and there were no salt trucks anywhere.

Good thing is I don't expect the tow truch to complain cause he had no damage and the trooper didn't give me a ticket cause well, while we were filling out the paper work, we saw a couple of people slip and slide and ding their cars in the same area (though they weren't against a tow truck so no damage).
I'll post pics later and poor car gets to go to the shop today. Hopefully it won't take too long to have me car back.

the car obviously took damage because tC's are crappy, built like crap, and are "crappy built" cars.
they are crappy and alot of other bad words presented at a 4th-grade grammar level!

sorry to hear. hopefully you'll have it as good as new again.

We got the same storm here yesterday (long island), and I thought that the car/tires did remarkably well. biggest thing is allowing LOADS of room between you and the car in front of you, keeping the RPMs below 2k, and downshifting instead of braking hard.

Figured I'd resurrect this for the sake of closure. Got my tC back about 2 days ago (Yes folks roughly 3 weeks.) Actually had to go to the dealer for it and ask if I could get it back, needed a car. They released it to me since the only things left are cosmetic stuff, ie: engine cover, which hadn't come in yet. I'll have to bring it back in when it arrives. Also noticed I can't open the passenger side window from the drivers side control and the keyless entry is working one minute and not the next. I'll have to tell em to look into that.
All in all, just happy my car's back.

Thanks again JasonH, the window method you mentioned worked great. Heck, even the keyless entry started working. Not sure if it was related but if its working, its working.
