Default snowboarding racks for tC

Are there any snowboard/ski racks out for the tc yet? I'm trying to find some for the upcoming season

I believe thule or yakima will work. if you are going with only 1 other person you dont really need a rack. If you are taking more than one then might as well use other car.

2 snowboards, both will fit in the back.

ski, make the passenger sit behind you and recline the passenger side seat.

I think you can actually get a Yakima one from the dealer. So they definitely exist.

http://www.yakima.com/

MSRP $230 for the tC roof rack.

You can also get the Yakima q-towers on ebay(or I have an extra set) and then buy the clips for the tC. Just go to the rack configurator on the Yakima site.

Hope this helps,

Ya... the yakima site said that it is the qtowers. So I would recommend shopping around.

I saw quite a few tCs in Tahoe while I was up there last week. I was quite surprised to see so many people driving them up there. Might I add that Tahoe had a crazy snow storm the 4 days I was there. I hope those tCs made it home okay.

The yakima racks look pretty nice. I think I might get one just for the looks, though I don't go up boarding a lot.

Yeah. My tC wasn't fun to drive on the ice up to Sierra about 2 weeks ago. The stock tires couldnt even grip the road and if I accelerated quickly at all, the front tires would spin like crazy. I haven't seen any tC's around the bay area with snowboarding racks yet though.

you could also slip 2 snowboards between the rear seats and still seat 4 people somewhat comfortably,
how comfortable? well that would really depend on the size of the bindings but it worked for me!
slipped them right in between the 60/40 split and the rear seats can still recline and all that good stuf!

yeah, I've been putting mine in my folded back seets in it's bag. Of course that's only to get me to the bus to drive me to the slopes, not to the slopes themselves. I doubt I'll need a full rack, I should look into one though.

I go snowboarding a couple times a week, don't have the racks though cause I only go with 1 other person usually. The weak spot as far as snow is concerned are the stock tires. I've never spun out, but that's because I take things very slowly and cautiously. The car itself seems like it can handle the snow, but the potenzas don't get good traction in heavy rain, let alone snowy/icy conditions.

The racks fit 4 snowboards which is convenient when im going up with friends. I used to fold my backseat down and put them there but i could only fit one other person in the back. (i usually take 3 boards up) at least.

some buy actually had his snowboards destroyed when the rack broke and got ripped off the roof while he was on the highway with the snowboards attached to it. I've fit 3 people + 3 snowboards + pillows cloths back packs food etc. Could easily do it... unless you have subs. I had to take my subs out for the trip.
