Default Spend the money on the tC or...

Ok, I was prepared to spend $400 on my car. Mainly intake & exhaust.

However, last weekend, I purchased an HDTV (tube type. IMO tube>plasma>lcd) and I was totally blown away with the picture. I bought the HD cable for my X-Box and I fell inlove with the system again. My games all of a sudden seemed like new.

So should I get the intake & exhaust, or a 360? I don't want to throw money away in a PS3, and the Wii seems to be all sold out (pre-sale).

Do you notice a good gain on the CAI? Most people I talked to say, very little, but sounds awesome. If it's just for "sound", then $220 is too much, IMO.

Intake is primarily just sound and engine bling, yes theres gains, but your butt dyno will never feel it.

Personally I'd go intake/exhaust if I didnt have one, then again, I'm young and I'm "into that"

Everytime I buy an electronic toy (i'm asian, so that's super often), I grow bored of it

Spend it on the car., wait a while and buy a 360 for cheaper when they come down in price, which I figure will be early next year the way things go with electronics. Or by then buy one used. I think $400 is WAYYY too much for a game system, but my priorities may be different. As mentioned, an intake is bling and sound.

I'm holding off on getting an intake (at least for a while). I ordered a Greddy SP2 exhaust ($370.00+tax) which I should be getting tomorrow. From all the research I've done on these forums the SP2 seems to provide pretty good gains and is a rather mellow sounding exhaust (which I like). Many people do like the bling/sound factor of the CAI. Injen CAI's apparently do provide the most gain according to most people on here.

Not sure if you have lowering springs and a rear sway bar yet, but that might be another good mod to do for the money you are looking to spend.

Bottom line is: Its your money and your choice. Use the "search" feature to research and then determine if you think it is worth it.

I'm really, really pumped for this

For those that don't have HDTV, you don't know what you're missing. Skip the mods for a year and buy a set. You won't regret it.

Hrm...if you buy a 360, you'd have to spend money on games and such...and the last time I checked, the games are not cheap. I'd stick with the intake and exhaust.

i agree. i have a 360 and the games get old. you’ll spend almost 70 for a game and they'll buy it back for 25. I’d put the money in the car.

When the employee at EB Games scanned my 360 it rang up used even thought it was brand new and the sticker said $399.99. This lucky mistake knocked $120 off the price for me! So I got a brand new system for $280! My friend went to the store later that day but they had figured out the problem so he didn't get one.

This doesn't really help you all that much but I felt like sharing.

IMO: Get the 360 and Dead Rising. Then buy Gears of War on 11/12/06!!!

im in the same situation. i have about 800 to spend and still saving. I was planning on buying a set of work emotion cr's for the tc. i want 18's but i'll have to buy new tires so i had planned on settling for 17s. Then I got fed up with MY hdtv being in the living room cuz the roommates won't buy a tv so I started thinking about getting a new tv for my room. I'm really wanting a 32" Runco LCD because I get a mad discount on them from work. Other than that I'm thinking about a 32" sharp aquos. I'm in a huge pickle about what to actually buy. The rims or the tv. So i totally feel your pain.

As for your problem, I've never really seen a huge power gain from a intake/exhaust swap unless I did a full exhaust. So I think you should plan on spending a bit more for that stuff. If you don't want to spend a bit more then I say get a 360. I camped out in line for 18 hours in the freezing rain in front of best buy to get my 360 and i don't regret it at all. I say get the 360!

You can put the 360 in the car ^^^

That and plus the PS3 will only have 400,000 copys in the USA. And the rest will come in March.... So Xbox-360
http://secure.llamma.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=64 <== or you can spice the old one up.

PS3 will only have 400,000 units available? LOL!!!

I guess Sony is artificially creating a shortage so it will seem like their $600 trojan horse sold out!

$600 PS3
$50 extra controller
$70 game

Wow... over $700 just on one machine to have fun. LOL!

Holy Crap... SEVEN HUNDRED BUCKS for a new Wi-Fi capable Media Player, Blu-ray DVD Player that can fully utilize my 1080P DLP, AND it can play PS3 Games?

Forget that .... I'll stick to the plan and just buy a $1000 Stand-alone Blu-Ray DVD player.

Hmmm... bluray... I can't wait for that . I want the format that has INFERIOR picture quality and close to 25% of the units produced being defective. Diode problems anyone?

Cell processors being produced have a defective ratio of 2:1

No thanks.

I've read that it's not that they are creating a shortage on purpose, it's that they can't produce the very complex chip that is going to be powering the PS3 fast enough. It's something like only 20% of the chips processes actually make it into the system because it is that complicated. They also had to develop a new coding system for the new chip and everything else to go along with it. Either way I'll be passing on it and hopefully getting either a Wii and/or a 360.

What college do you go to? I just graduated last year in Mechanical Engineering, had a part time job, a girlfriend and a bunch of organizational positions, and I still had nothing but time. Have fun while you can because the real world sucks.
