Default Steering Wheel Crooked?

So i took my car in a while back to get this "fixed." They said they just realigned it, and i still have the same problem.
The problem is that when i'm driving straight (on a straight road) the steering wheel is tilted clockwise. Rather than being at 12 o'clock, it is probably around 1 o'clock to 1:30 o'clock haha. So when i realign the steering wheel to 12 o'clock, the car of course moves to the left.
Just curious if anyone else has had this problem and if you know what the TSB# is or whatever number i can use to tell the dealer to fix.
They just tell me it's the alignment but i'm pretty sure its not. is it :?:

my old Camry was like that. It never caused any problems. I doubt they will every put a TSB out for it. But if you bother your dealer enough they should fix it.

My car has the same issue, I brought it into the dealer once to fix and they slightly corrected it. I plan bringing it back when I get some time and have it properly fixed.

If it's anything like my mx-6 was, when you take the steering wheel off there is basically a big gear the wheel sits on, with many notches. Yours was probably put on slightly askew. It should be a simple fix, I'm surprised the dealer couldn't fix it. Hell, if you take your wheel off (don't recommend it - its got a warranty still!) you'll think "Damn, that's common sense!"

EDIT: If it has tilted over time, that's probably unrelated to the gear. Does the car ride rough or feel unaligned?

mine is slightly tilted clockwise. maybe 12:30. for mine it really isnt a big issue, its just that i need to hold the steering wheel at all times. i mentioned it to the service person this morning when i went to get my first oil change. i told him that it really isnt that big of an issue, but i would like it realligned just because its a brand new car. he said that i get one allignment covered under the warrantee, and that if he performed it now, i wouldnt be able to get it again for free. i told him i planned on putting the trd springs later in the spring/summer, and perhaps i should get it afterwards when the springs settle in. he said that i should probably wait till then and then use my free allignment then.

can anyone verify that we have one free allignment under warrantee? i was surprised to hear that. sounded like everyone on this thread had to pay for an allignment after the springs were installed.

well as all the other replies show you're not alone.. but, I too had this problem.. I called up scion and they worked with the dealer until it was resolved. The dealer aligned it a couple times, then they put a good mechanic on it.. and he had me straighten the steering wheel to where I like it and he did all the adjustments around that.. it's been great ever since.. just have to get an exacting mechanic to do the alignment not just someone who says "oh well that's close enough"..

Mine isn't off. Take it back to the dealer until it's fixed. Take it up with Scion if they won't.

usually they have a steering wheel lock that holds the wheel in place
if they don't use this then they aren't doing their job
you can't get a good alignment if the steering wheel isn't locked in place
basically it can move wherever it wants, but also if your wheel is a little off, but it still goes down the road straight and all 4 wheels are in alignment with eachother, then its just a matter of how much it annoys you
i used to be an alignment tech so i have a pretty good idea of the problem
as long as you don't see the tires wearing funny you all should be fine
unless it bugs you that much
any other questions feel free to pm me

Last week I was backing up and my front left tire hit a light pole (also did some danage to the front of the car). I drove home and didn't notice anythign wrong. The next day though while driving to work I noticed my steering wheel was off. Everyone here is saying that theirs is off just a little. Mine is off at least 20 dewgrees. I called the dealership and they are going to take a look at it. I'll let you know what they say.

How hard did you hit that pole with your tire? You can do some suspension damage or knock your alignment out of wack with something like that. Definitely get it checked out.
