Just trying to get some advice on driving a manuel.

When I shift from 1 to 2 and 2 to 3, my car knock. What am I doing wrong?

Do I let go of the cluth then shift?

never let off the clutch until the gear is engaged. are you sure you have it all the way in 3rd gear before you let off the clutch?

I think it's inherent in some tC's..... mine did for for a long while after I first purchased my tC, although I don't quite remember when it stopped

hope this helps

i think you should of sticked to AT. But ill give u some pointers this works well when racing also.

-Grab the stick and gently pull or push (depending on gear)
-depress the clutch
-shift
-release clutch

smooth shifting right there! u cnat go wrong.

have the clutch in all the way shift then let out. Don't shift too early though it does put a strain on your engine. I would go to at least 3,000 then shift.

You push in the clutch (all the way), then shift, then let the clutch pedal out. If you put the car into too high a gear for the road speed your motor will bog and knock. Is that what you're talking about?

shift at 3000 rpm, but when you shift, let the clutch out slower, with a little more gas, you'll see the difference. i had the exact same problem you did. also, don't use 5th gear unless you are going over 50 mph you'll get better trust me

To Clarify

Manuel is a male name in spanish. Driving a "Manuel" sounds funny, is like saying "driving a Pedro".

Manual is a type of transmission in which you use a stick to change gears.

just my 2 cents

if it's the little "knock" I'm thinking of, it has nothing to do with the way ScionGolf is shifting.... as I posted, I used to get the same knock when applying the gas in 1st through 3rd, but only the first time after I let off the clutch in each gear. It's just a single knock that sounds like something in the car might be flexing and breaking in, I guess you could say

and before anyone thinks I'm a novice on M/T..... I've been driving manuals for about 20 years

Sorry to all. I made a hugh typo in my post.

This is what I mean.

do I let go of the GAS (not clutch) , shift, release clutch , then GAS?

My 3th to 5th shifting are fine.

It's just 1st to 3rd. I shift when the RPM get to 3000.

The shifting does go very smoothly, I mean it's very obvious that I am shift during 1 to 3.
