Default StopTech Big Brake Kit Install on KPI R&D Vehicle 56K Sl

We finished the install tonight. The Kit is $1795.00 and is well worth it. You get your choice of Axxis or Hawk Pads, Stainless lines, Calipers, Slotted Rotors and we are still working to get rear brakes. The stopping power is a great deal more than stock but is still easy to manage even with the ABS under heavy breaking conditions. We are still in talks with StopTech to get a rear kit together and a stock replacement kit for both front and rear as well.

What do you think...

Those are really nice. What size wheels are on the car? 19s? It looks like you could even do larger brakes if you wanted to. Are those rotors 12.9"? That's like 2" bigger than stock. Must make a big difference.

I am guessing they are 4 piston brake like i had on my VW. I was very lucky on my purchase and got them for 1100. :D

Also, unless I am going for atleast 300fwhp on this tC, I don't see the reason in getting these, JMO though.

im not sure why your hp goals would have anything to do with your brakes?

Well its not a main reason but i think what he is trying to say is that faster speeds/higher momentum calls for greater stopping forces...

That is correct... I don't see the reason in buying a BBK cause there is no damn reason a Stock tC would need a upgrade such as this, unless you going in show competition and you have a slammed tC, with 19's and big brakes to better compliment you wheels.

I don't like your rim color... It doesn't flow with the car at all...

Also I don't think those are 19s... Even though they have a small amount of tire ;p

The brakes look ok... ;p

Why would you need rotors that big anyways? how fast you plan on going in normal driveing day to day trips from work and back? If you plan on making a show car or drag car there pretty cool but other than that it would be a waste of money.

Not to be critacal

i woud buy it if the kit was 4 brakes. i hate havin the idea of unequal brake balance. big brakes in the front might not affect the weak brakes in the bak but it jus bugs me. ahd 1700... i woud probly do it if i ever have the $$. i luv my car so much i want to use it to its full potential. and i also love drivin in the MTN's. and u definitely need good brakes for does roads.

conclusion, yes i woud buy them. ony if i had the $$ for them now!

I drive the car every day, to and from work. Atlanta has some crazy drivers. I need the kit for instances like what happened to our RSX Type S on Monday; one of my employees were driving and for no reason a guy in front of us locked up the brakes in the middle of the interstate (road rage), Melvin (our sales manager) tried to swerve and avoid while breaking (The car has Spoon/Nissan Monoblock calipers W/ Hawk HP+ pads) to no avail. The car was damaged slightly, but without the larger breaks the car would have been toast not to mention us as well. This is a Primary Reason for me. On the other hand we race this car in local Auto-X events and we will road race it as well in the future. So again, in the words of Dave chapell/Samuel Jackson, 'Good motha fuc*n choice'... :D but I have stated that it may be overkill for some people, like yourself, and we have been working diligently to come up with a OEM Replacement Kit from StopTech. While it is no secret that the car shares the hubs from a Celica GTS (among other parts) there are still some fitment issues we would like to resolve before we market the kit.

They are 4 piston, you are correct; the OEM caliper is single piston.

Well I hope maybe you will visit this link and you can learn about the CE28N (that is the wheel) and the different colors and sizes it comes in. Custom orders are available but take 3-6 months lead time from Japan. BTW they are 19'' wheels

I know how that feels... Mountain runs are a lot of fun; we try to get out a much as possible. The brake biasing is almost unaffected; the car is definitely stopping better and more consistently. The rear does fade somewhat hard in the turns but it is still an improvement over stock. I noticed that the car felt and acted dangerously with the OEM setup while cornering and trail braking at the same instance. When we put the new wheels and tires on the rotation the vehicle had under hard cornering became more manageable. But the breaks are awesome and we will put rears on as soon as we do some more R&D.

StopTech put a lot of research into their brake kits, expecially when it comes to matching the piston sizes to the application. The brake bias should be unchanged whether you just add their front big brake kit, or if you do front and rear.

I mean seriously, you really got the brakes for auto-x more so than worrying about everyday traffic situation. Like I said I have Stoptechs on my current car now, and I know how great they are and all, but like I said if not for performance reasons or all show, not sure why you would get it thats all. \
Not knocking you guys or anything, cause the brakes are great. I just think it would of been better to wait till atleast the FI kits came out so you guys can atleast have more interest with ppl thinking about upgrading their brakes. Cause I probably will get a BBK in the future when i figure out what route i am going to go with this car performance wise.

Good luck on your sales...
