Default A story of a tC....

I call this the story of a tC, this is how I came from a RS 3 to an 07 FM

It beings at a local dealer....I put a $500 deposit on an RS 3 on Sunday, the $500 would GUARANTEE my RS 3 on Monday, so Monday rolls by, i'm excited, I call up my dealer, and now he tells me they sold my car, so basically i was like WTF... but then he goes we have another RS 3 but you have to pay extra since it has a front bumper protector and floor mat, so i'm like ughh let me think about, so he says he'll have it ready by 5, so i call at 4 and he tells me that it's not going to be ready because of rush hour and he can't get a driver to get my car, but we have relocated you another RS 3, back to the regular price without the protector and floor mats but it will be ready Tuesday, so now it's Tuesday, I call him up and he says it'll be ready at 3, so I called him at 1, and he tells me that the seats are leather and not suede like I wanted and he said sorry they didn't so a full inspection and sent the car back, THEN he brings up the RS with the protector and floor mats again, than I just told him flip it, give me back my deposit and i'm about to do business with other dealers =[

So about 6 hours ago, I go to a dealer about 30 minutes away since I talked to one of the salesman on the phone earlier and he said that he had 1 FM and 1 RS3 and they were both manual. So i'm excited, after dinner me and my parents go, we get there and another dealer greeted us (the guy who I talked on the cell phone appointed us to this guy cause he gave him all the info of the car I wanted). I see 2 RS 3 and 1 FM and guess what there ALL AUTO! I was like ughh, he told me on the phone that they were manual, so I call up the guy and let him talk to this other salesman, and it seems like they had a miscommunication, they got automatic and manual mixed up or something............... So he brings me in and searches for a 5spd RS 3 around the area and says he found one for 20k without the fees, so i'm alright and throw a $500 deposit down, so halfway home the salesman calls me and asks me if i can come back so he can inspect my dad's tundra ( this is because we were gonna go a trade in an add cash), so we drive 15 minutes back, he inspects the car, and gives us the price of $9400 because that was the online price, he says he inspects everything on FAIR because every dealer does, it was a 2002 V8 Tundra with a lot of add-ons and only 68K miles, so we weren't so happy cause we wanted at least 10K, so I told them that it was either 10K or no scion and they gave in, so now we're doing paper work and i'm happy cause at least this guarantees something, and than the dealer says "I got bad news, the RS 3 has leather seats and thats an extra $2400", this point i'm fed up with this leather seat ish, so he tells me that he will exchange the leather seats for suede seats himself for free, so i'm satisfied, than he talks to his manager and they say they can't do it cause no one wants to buy one with leather, and now the manager takes me to talk to him and he's searching for more RS 3 and it's like 9 at night the store is closed and stuff but he's still searching, and he looks for BSP and SW but no hope, and I tell him i'd settle for FM so he finds one calls another dealer right when they closed and got the trade in, and no he brings me back and tries to convince me to buy the auto RS 3 and he says he'll add anything I want, he was really desperate to sell it, but I tell him naw, so than we do more paper work, I pay off for the FM and extended warranty, they give me a rental 06 Camry which isn't even a rental car, it was a car in there used lot haha, it has stickers on it says selling for 18k, and yeah after that I now will be picking up at FM tomorrow! YAY! and that was the story of my tC.

It's a long read I know, but hopefully if all goes well tomorrow, I will be getting my FM =] It was too long for me to check for typos

if you want an RS3, get an RS3.. dont bother getting something else because you will not be satisfied.

i got a NB instead of a BSP, and i regret it when i see a BSP.

I've been trying, i've called all dealers of a 50 mile radius and most of them don't have it, some of them do but have add-ons i can't afford or don't want or are auto, basically looking for the RS with the bare minimum, and those dealers who have em or I order from always change there word =[, but I'm happy with a FM.

dude.. i know the pain.. i know a few dealerships that STUPID to put leather seats on an ALREADY UPGRADED Alcantara RS3 seats!!! WTF are they thinking?!?!

seriously trying to make a customer spend an extra $2K+ for leather....
____es me off...

that's the biggest sign that the salesmen there are just out to make money and not really care about the brand.... no repsect at all to the company and to its customers.... damn money grubbin' greedy bastards...

sorry dude.... i know it hurts.. i'm sure alot of us feel that pain.... i want those alcantara seats... :?

True true, even the dealers know that, thats why they didn't want to swap it into another scion for me haha, yeah I love how the seats look =/ but imma have to sacrifice some things and be appreciative for what i can get. Once I get a blacked out grill, lip, and s2k antenna, I think i'd get over the RS 3, i was even planning to wait for an RS 4

I went to Fremont Toyota Scion.... Crap... the guy didn't even know what a spec model was, Hayward only had silver, than Stephens Creek Scion, they didn't have it, but were eager and seem more dedicated to me than the other dealers

I'm surprised the dealer didn't work harder at getting you the car you wanted, they usually are so eager to do anything they can (except lowering prices) to get you in a new ride.

Damn, Some dealerships are like that. They give you the run around and try to sell anything. Me I'm firm and I say make it happen or I not buying.

you could give me a call even though I'm in Montana, but we would give you more than that for your Tundra and no hassle.

I would call back and tell them you are taking that second RS 3.0 without paying extra for that stuff. They sold your car that you were promised, and even put money down, and now they need to account for their actions.

If they don't want to give it away for under the price of those options, have them take it off, but you're not paying a dime over what you were going to pay for the one they sold out from under you.

I find it unacceptable that you put money down on a car and they sold out from under you, and then say "ooh! pay more for this same car with options we added".

And if they won't do it, tell them you and your family and everyone you know will never be shopping at their dealership again, and that you are disgruntled. Then tell them you're going to the Honda dealership for a Civic instead: that'll grind some nerves"

But even if you stick with a tC, don't buy from there. They don't deserve your money.

x2^

that is highly unprofessional in my opinion. to me, when you put down the deposit, you are holding up your end of the deal. that isnt cool for them to sell it out from under you.

after reading your story (nightmare more or less) it really makes me appreciate how smooth my experience at longo toyota/scion here in so. cal went. i called and emailed with an internet sales guy, made sure everything was legit and locked in. he called me the day i was suppose to come down and buy it, about an hour before i was to head down, i called and gave him the heads up i was on my way. upon arrival he had it out front, washed and ready to rock. we took it for a test drive, everything was great. so we went in, did the paperwork (i already had a check from my credit union) and i was out of there within one hour, tops!

yeah... let me try to find someone intelligent at Fremont

stevens creek has a RS3... but i think it was an auto though.. i'll check.. but i think it is.. :?
NO OPTIONS though! (besides the side-airbags and the RS package (duh))

seeing as how i hang out there so damn much... i've gotten to know the salesmen a little bit (though i usually avoid the showroom where they are).. but they are always eager to help, much more than most other dealerships i know.

have you also checked out Scion 101? I personally know the Scion Champion there and he's awesome... he'll help you out as best he could... and he's not the greedy type that'll put options on the cars they order to make customers buy them.

You got ripped on that 02 Thundra.

My guess is they will sell it for around 15k maybe more if you say it has ton of options.

that aside.

You would have been in the right mind to stick it to them. If I deposit x amount of dollars on a car on the terms that it will be held for me and it was sold. I would cause a commotion. Don't be afraid to speak a little louder and make a scene, remember they goofed.

They should have let that Rs3 w/ leather seats go at no extra cost to you since they are the ones who messed up.

Yeah they had 2 RS 3's but there auto =/ they were also the one who ordered me another RS 3 but than told me it was leather but they would try to swap out the seats w/out any extra charges, you know Allan? With a azul pearl tC? he told me to go to scion 101 too, I was considering it, but lazy to drive to redwood, yeah the people at Stephens creek are koo though, I met Jason, he's a chill guy, he has the fixed up vet, colonel harper was the dude i was talking to on the phone, he was pretty nice and apologized for the mix up, and yang was the guy who did most of the transaction and stuff, he was determined to fix everything up, so even though I didn't end up with an RS 3, I still got some people willing to help me.

Oh yeah the Tundra... Yeah we expected more, but we had to get rid of it cause of gas, my dad drives about an hour to work and an hour home with a v8 and he's not so happy with gas, and it seems like no one wants a truck nowadays
