Police: 7 dead in likely drag-race crash
ACCOKEEK, Md. - A car plowed into a crowd that had gathered to watch a drag race on a suburban road early Saturday, killing seven people and injuring at least four, police said.
The white sedan hit people standing on the side of Route 210 around 3:40 a.m., Prince George's County Police Cpl. Clinton Copeland said. A tractor-trailer that came by shortly afterward may also have struck someone on the road as it tried to avoid the crash, he said.
"It's probably one of the worst scenes I've seen," Copeland said. "This is a situation that could have been avoided, and it's a very tragic situation."
Four people were taken to hospitals, Copeland said. Their conditions weren't immediately known. The driver of the car had been interviewed and did not appear to be seriously hurt, but a passenger was among the dead, Police Capt. Donald Frick said.
Route 210 has two lanes in each direction and traffic lights about every 150 to 200 yards in Accokeek, about 20 miles south of Washington. Investigators were working to piece together the chain of events and had "more questions than answers," Copeland said.

"The white sedan hit people"
I didn't see anything about a scion in there...
This is a sad cahain of events, and I hope to God that others learned their lesson and will understand that a little race is not worth attending 7 funurals in one week... I feel for everyone in that situation..
Yeah people like that give others bad names and are selfish in my own opinion. I mean why would you race with a corwd of people near by? Have to be stupid...Never race in traffic or with other cars, pedestrians around...please...

man, a guy in cali just got 6 years for killing a little girl while street racing. i honestly don't understand it. but that is why single males under 25 have such high insurance rates, not to say 25+ don't street race though.

he was charged with vehicular manslaughter. i got into a discussion with this cat on another site and i was saying that he got what he deserved, the other guy was basically saying 6m-1yr would've been enough.
i'm niether for or against street racing but street racing will never end. it's been going on since cars were invented. My condolences to the 7 people that were killed but they knew the risks of attending that kind of event.

it was actually a Grand Marquis/Crown Vic following the racers in their car that did the killing, not the drag cars.
I don't approve of street races, but the pictures have beer bottles in the pics and the actual cars in the race didn't do the damage. So it looks like an idiot did the damage
