Default Sub install help

I have a audiobahn 10 inch tube woofer with a built in amp.
On the back of the sub/amp you are supposed to run a light purple wire to the source lead of the head unit.
Which wire on the hu is that??? There is a light purple wire that runs to the hu, but im not sure...
Any help would be great...

Thanks,
Alec

Light purple sounds like one of the speaker wires, which would make sense. In this case though, I would look at the connections going to the rear speakers. Splice into one of them.

is it just one wire? if it is, sounds like its the remote turnon lead. they're usually solid blue. connect to the solid blue wire on the hu wiring harness.

yeah its just one wire

I have connected the rc convertor to the rear speakers already....well 2 out of 4 wires... sent my wife to pick up some splicers at walmart...

Now on the headunit there are no solid colors...
there are two blues....
one blue is at the end where i am splicing....
so you mean the other blue???

go to best buy or circuit city and pickup a harness for toyota/scion and match it up to the toyota harness and get the amp lead if not go for the antenna wire.

I dont think that will do me any good.
I still need to find out where this purple wire goes.
I believe its supposed to turn on the amp/sub when you turn on your headunit.

I know someone who has a line tester, so I'll just check which wire is 12v DC.
I think that should do it.

just connect the purple wire to the blue remotre turn on lead. if its incorrect, the amp wont turn on and nothing will happen.

i tried the blue wire.... no go, the amp just stays on. I like a battery w/ juice.

I talked to one of my friends that works at circuit city and he said to try the orange wire next to the blue. If that doesnt work to try the gray wire.

well the orange wire should be for the illumination or dimmer. there has to be a remote turn on lead, but as i said before, its blue.

Maybe the connection I made is no good. I will try the blue wire again.

Also the guy I know showed me a toyota harness and he said the orange one is the antenna wire.

It looks exactly the same as the harnesses for our car.
I let you guys know how it turns out.

does it turn off when the car turns off so it won't drain your battery? I'm doing the same install right now

the remote wire from any hu is always blue, or blue with a white stripe, it will be labled "REMOTE".
