Sunroof Issues (not the simple RESET fix)

A few days ago I had my sunroof tilted open a bit because of the heat. I started drizzling a bit outside, so I stepped out to close the roof, and wouldn't you know it, it wouldn't shut. I tried simply tapping the button, tried holding it, everything.
Since the rain was still light, I tapped (not held) the OPEN button and it opened the sunroof completely and I was unable to stop it. It was almost as if the button was being held down the whole time.
The rain was picking up and after much panic, the sunroof finally closed completely, but not without it stopping a few times and again refusing to not work.
Anyone have a clue as to why this would be? Many moons ago (maybe 2-3 years) I hardwired the charger for my GPS to the sunroof power, but I've never had any issues before like this. It has sort of come out of the blue.

the rails might be dirty and causing to much resistance.... try cleaning them and lubing them! if that situation arises again, reach up and pull the wind gaurd down and hold the button, it should close right up. Either than or it may be the switch!
first, try closing the sunroof while holding your wind visor down (just keep your door open and hold the wind visor down), hopefully your arms are long enough for this
and if it closes fine then its probably the rails on the wind visor causing the problem.
the wind visor often causes problems with the sunroof closing when the rails get dirty and cause much more resistance for the sunroof to close it, and the sunroofs jam protection prevents it from closing, it trys to close and then just opens back up.
just try lubing it with a silicone based lubricant on the air guard rails, on any part of the rail that moves, there are also holes at the base of the rail, make sure you get in there with the lubricant and spray all around, those are there to make sure exactly what needs to get lubricated gets lubricated.

ive been having the same problem. at first, it wouldnt open properly, and i'd have to really hold the button down for the sunroof to open. but now, it has trouble closing as well. whereas the failure to open feels like an electrical problem, closing seems to be mechanical (possibly fixable with lubricant).
ive tried disconnecting the battery(for other reasons) and it actually seemed to have fixed it... but it was very temporary. the problem still exists.
