Super-easy-to-self-install accessories?
Hey all,
So I'm trying to decide what to put in my tC accessories bag. I'm realizing that some of these things are probably just as easy (and cheaper) to purchase and "throw on myself" separately and less inexpensively (through TRDsparks or McGeorgeparts) than through the dealer, but I'm thinking maybe there are some that I'm not catching.
These are the accessories I was thinking about having at the end of the whole purchasing and installation process (I haven't completely decided on the ones in parentheses):
FROM SCION
Side impact airbags
Scion Security
2in1 Carpet /All weather mats w/ Cargo mat
6-Disc changer
Rear Lip spoiler
Wheel locks
Door sill enhancement
Cargo net
(Rear bumper applique)
(XM radio receiver & antenna)
(Auto-dimming mirror, if, in 2006, it can be combined w/ side airbags)
FROM TRD
Lowering springs
Shocks
Rear sway bar
Quickshifter
Performance air filter
So I'm thinking that these items I could just buy elsewhere and just "install" myself (where "installing" shouldn't require much more than positioning a sticker in the right place, pushing down, and smoothing):
2in1 Carpet /All weather mats w/ Cargo mat
Cargo net
(Rear bumper applique)
There were suggestions in this topic
https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...214&highlight=
that the Wheel locks, Door sill enhancements, and the subwoofer should also be easy installs.
I'm more than a little skeptical of myself on installing the subwoofer (at least ignorance there), but what about the wheel locks and door sill enhancements? Does anyone know what's involved with installing those? Is it easy? hard?
I can pretty much rule out any of TRD stuff for me to do, but am I missing anything else that might be super easy to install?
Thanks!

They look nice.
The rear bumper applique is harder than i thought to put on. I Tried my best to get it smoothed down, but its got all sorts of little bubbles in it.
Yes, door sills are super easy.

The website will not allow you to order it, but it can be done. Just run the power wire up to the dome light, instead of down the a pillar's (wear the side airbags are, hence the incompat. issue). It's done that way on mine
door sill and antenna are easy. the bumper applique is HARD. the door b-pillar applique is easy.
also, do not get floor mats, I just got some good quality black ones from autozone and they blend right in and are heavy duty. work just fine.
check http://www.trdsparks.com for a lot of stuff at discounted price!

Hey,
The Floor mats/cargo mat set from the dealer is $145.
Mcgeogeparts.com has the floor mats for $79, but they only mention the 4 floor mats (i.e., no mention of the cargo mat). Anyone know if their set comes with the cargo mat anyway? TRDSparks.com seems not to have the floor mats, at least not that I could find either via browsing or via googling their site.
maybe $145 isn't *too* bad from the dealer after all. hm.

Some dealers don't even realize that sometimes because it's listed seperately in their parts computer, which makes no friggin sense. It took 3 phone calls to them to get it all straightened out and I finally proved I was right, though they only charged me $120 for them all :D
If I were you I'd call the dealer back if the purchase wasn't too long ago...
