In MOST cases aftermarket lugs on stock rims is NOT a good idea unless u like your rims fallin off while your rolling.
BUT Its good it worked for you but i've heard and seen in my point of view, didnt turn out so well.

let this diagram serve as an example.

the tc OEM wheels use a "mag type seat" as illustrated above in the last row on the right. you can even use the OEM lugs nuts off a tc and compare the design which is a mag design also to the diagram above as a reference.
now, almost all lug nuts designed with aftermarket intentions use hex conical or spherical seating. any lug nut compatible with the tc thread is pretty much going to be conial because spherical is out dated and not used anymore. even on wheel designs only going back to the late 90s.
if you also pay attention to your stock tc wheels the MAG design serves its purpose of helping to center the wheel on the hub(the hub should do this also but on the tc it doesnt do much, only to make wheel designs more compatible when you swap for aftermarket really).
so using anything BUT a mag design really is actually NOT helping to center the wheel because the mag design acts like a mini hub centric ring AND because using any other type of nut with a different design really just puts more stress on the lugs nut then needed. therefore tightening them more to help keep your wheel stable + on the car rather then just on the car is the only option. just look at the surface area also the lug nut and rim seating and its obvious there is a huge amount of surface loss between the large bore of a mag seating VS the conical design seating of lug nut. im willing to bet millions those red lug nuts you had are probably conical and not MAG seated. you probably didnt have them on long enough to notice prolonged effects or damage. but eventually that stress will take its tole on the crappy oem studs. this also causes the lug nuts to loosen up over time because of the vibrations caused by a wheel not probably placed on a hub or stud.
now applying what you just learned... re-analyze the given situation and LMK if you think its not stupid.

i doubt anyone makes an aftermarket colored MTHN. your better off just painting it if your that desperate for a change of color. i know they sell them in black also. but usually its that chrome/silver finish.

this is not because YOU did it, or because YOU never had problems. its because mechanically you are asking for trouble.

wow i got my notes teacher... thanks for the classgetting serious again i know what ur saiying but like i told u i had them for more than a year and if it is like u saying i never saw any difference on the lug nut like defects of damages to the conical part of the nut because like u said they were conical lug nuts ...and trust me i used to race my ____ a lot at the hang out so at least some kind of difference i would notice on them like the ones i have now they do look bad and sometimes when i dont tight it right it gives me vibration but not a big deal... but anyways thanks for ur class again i apreciated

lol u funny pete that was the first time he raced his cobalt I think... and of course that was completely stock u wanna race him again so u can see what a non stock ss will do with yours??? Because u couldn't keep up with him doesn't mean he was not running stock is because ur car couldn't do no more on that race

and no i dont need another race. watching your little face along with his as i kept up with you guys easy until about 90 form the 20-30 rolls was good enough for me. and its pretty weak IMO trying to set up runs on a boosted car with an NA car... thats some bench racing type moves lol and dont act all proud about it. i wouldnt be proud if an NA tc kept up with an FI car. you guys practically begged me for a race for 10 min. before i said fine just so ya'll would leave me alone. I even said it from the get go the cobalt would win. so really... who looks worse on the out come. not me

its funny how a "stock" cobalt sounded like an open dump srt-4

spraying???? jajaja plzzz i guess u forgot i had nitrous for about 2 years right?? i know what a scion could do with spray i try it a lot, besides that i wont ever in my life begged u or anybody else to race i've been in a lot of races to be crying just to see u race come on.... if u already forgot that was all the ppl around at the tse meet who wanted to see the race... besides that about the race u still lost even though u had to take ur friend out of the car plus, the spare tire, and w.e tools u had in the car... just to keep up with him until 90mph cause at the beggining of the race u were not even keeping up a car behind us so... idk either the ss is blessed or my friend knew how to drive it... but dont worry all cars are different u dont have to get frustrated at that its the matter of races ones u win others u lose...
