Default Sure helps when you know people....

Last night I finally let my co-worker see my car. He's into interior & exterior customizing, rebuilting. Almost to the point he makes more money doing projects than working at our employer. He got impressed due to everything I have is TRD. He told me "I think you're the first who did everything right! Every cars I've done; were done horrible. They mixed this with this. But I'm surprised you did everything right"

So I'm letting him do $5k of customizing. He kept telling me his ideas while I came up with few ideas. Then he said "Too bad you don't have manual. I would let you buy my Celica GTS 300 hp motor I have in storage." Then I said "I can let you do a switch?" He quickly said "Don't attempt me." I would let him; I think owning manual tC would be FUN. I just have to learn.

I'm going to let him do header and his tinting business pal do tinting within the month. He said if CEL comes on; we'll take my car to a tech he knows and re-program the computer. He also said he's got a idea for my CAI. I know no one has this idea in their tC.

I hope it all works out. I would be EXTREMELY SKEPTICAL of the work tho, considering its impossible to re-program the computer and all!!

I hope everything turns out nice!!

So b/c other people haven't gone with only TRD, they're doing it wrong?

That's funny.

In any case... good luck w/ the computer reprogramming.

you're blindly giving some dude 5k to do your interior, having seen no previous work from him? There's no way in hell he'd lay a finger on my car.

Sorry but hope this dude doesnt pull anything on ya. Just be mindful of all the stuff your having him and his buddies do. Gal if you ahve CEL get an antifouler. Dont be fulled into paying soem guy to attempt a re-tune of your stock ECU and jack it up.

Just dotn do soemthign stupid alrite.

His brother works as tech for a Chevy & Toyota dealership. His brother said to me ALOT of people are blowing this and that voiding their warranties. Because their turbos were blowing fuel pumps and warranty is voided.

I've known this co-worker for three years now. We're known each other on good grounds and actually worked in the same department did the same job. It's not a co-worker who I ran into once and "Claims" he knows how to do everything. His friends have allowed him to do work and I've seen cars that he has done. Him & brother worked on brother's Cavalier. He showed me the airbag suspension.

Reason why I'm trusting him is...I've been studying on header for good year now. Weapon R, Megan, DC Sports. Which means I did price checks too, right? He said I can get header for at most 350.00s. While I'm expecting to spend $600-700.

Plus anyone at our company who has problems with their cars go to him. In fact he had two cars to work on when I stopped by. One car needed new brakes. Second has check engine light even when a service shop claimed they fixed it by putting new water pump.

If his brother is a tech at Toyota, he will know that you cant reprogram the ECU.

A turbo CANNOT WILLNOT WONT blow a fuel pump!!

I hate to sound optimistic, and it might be you are relaying the info incorrectly, but nothing sounds right. Dont want to see you get screwed over!!!

You shouldnt be expecting to spend $600-$700 on a header. The most expensive one was alphawerks and that can be gotten for $550. The others are around $350 from stores, so again he isnt doing anything crazy favor for you.

Take it for what its worth, best of luck!!

Headers arent 600-700 bucks, full exhausts are barely that much.

Here are some links to shine the light on the wonderful deals he will cut for you.

Really, if you spend a day on SL doing some research, you can save a ton of money on car parts as well as labor.

No we aren't giving opinions, we are giving FACTS, very rarely do I ever post an opinion on this site.

FACT: YOU CANNOT REFLASH AN ECU
FACT: YOU CANNOT RESET A CEL IN THE COMPUTER (without it coming back on)
FACT: IT COSTS 5 DOLLARS TO FIX A CEL (not a mechanic)
FACT: THE HEADER DOESNT COST $600-$700
FACT: A TURBO DOESNT BLOW A FUEL PUMP (A turbo that requires enough fuel can make you need a larger fuel pump, but it wont EVER blow the fuel pump)

You are right, she can do it if she wants, but what we are saying is to help her and is no way, state, or form, OUR opinions. We are stating general facts for the Scion tC, that the person wanting to do the work for her knows nothing about.
